COVID-19: New recommendations for Ealing schools

Anna Bryden, Director - Public Health, Ealing, tells Head teachers that primary school children now have the highest case rates in the borough. The rates in primary school children have more than doubled since half-term.

Ealing's Public Health team recommends:

  1. Testing in COVID positive households. If anyone in a household tests positive for COVID-19, parents are encouraged to test pupils for 7 days using a lateral flow test. COVID-19 is commonly spread amongst a household. Anyone who has had a positive PCR result in the last 90 days should not get a further test unless they develop symptoms.
  2. Limit social / non-essential activity in COVID positive households. Families are encouraged to limit social or non-essential activity outside of the school day for 10 days from the date of the first positive test or 10 days from the date that COVID-19 symptoms started. This includes play dates, sports and parties. This will help reduce on-going transmission across the borough.

In school, positive cases are showing signs of falling. We will maintain our 'amber' measures until the end of term.
