As you know the Nursery Education Grant (government funding, known as NEG) is awarded annually to eligible parents of nursery aged children. Each child receives 15 hours of funded Nursery care. Eligible working parents receive an additional 15 hours Nursery care, up to a maximum of 30 hours per week. Schools can make a charge for additional ‘general extras’ including, consumable resources, meals and snacks, up until now we have been covering a proportion of these ‘general extras’ from the Nursery Education Grant, with a small charge of 50p per hour to parents (£2.50 per session).

Following a consultation period, from April 1^st 2018 the Government funding rate to schools will be reduced from £4.90 per hour to £4.68 per hour. Our nursery session fees will remain the same, so in real terms this means Nursery fees for those hours covered by the Nursery Education Grant will increase by 0.22p per hour to 0.72p per hour (£3.60 per session) to cover the ‘general extras’.

There will be no change to fees for hours taken outside the 15/30 hours Nursery care entitlement.
