PTFA - Look What You Helped Us Achieve This Year!

 Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the academic year, I wanted to take a moment on behalf of the PTFA to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts throughout the year.

We’re so proud that this year the PTFA has continued to deliver on its two core goals: building a strong, connected parent/carer community and raising essential funds to enrich school life. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to contribute to the things that make Fielding such a special place - from the refit of the KS1 Library, kitchen garden and forest school, to library resources, class trips, and more. These are the experiences that create lasting memories for our children and help them thrive beyond the classroom.

From baking cakes and donating prizes, to manning stalls and attending events - your time, energy, and generosity have made an enormous difference.

We’re thrilled to share that our recent Summer Fair raised an incredible £15,000. Despite a few cheeky rain showers, the Summer Fair was an unforgettable day - and a perfect example of the Fielding spirit in action! The parent band 'The Constellations' kept the energy high with a new set of songs, undeterred by the weather, with Mr McEvoy powering through Oasis classics to a very enthusiastic crowd. Meanwhile, the bar team took to the field with drinks trolleys, making sure no one went thirsty, and the BBQ - heroically run by our amazing Nursery parents - kept everyone well fed. With over 35 fantastic stalls and activities, including Laser Tag, Welly Wanging, the ever-popular tombolas, silent auction and raffle, the day was bursting with fun, laughter, and community pride. It was a huge team effort and a real highlight of the year!

This year has reminded us that the PTFA simply cannot run without volunteers. We are so grateful to everyone who pitched in, no matter how big or small your contribution. But we must also be honest: a huge amount has been done by a small number of people, and it has taken its toll. Looking ahead to next year, as a PTFA group, we say goodbye to stalwarts such as Lucy and Charlotte, and huge contributors such as Nolan and Steve will see their youngest children enter year 6. We are losing a lot of experience and we need some fresh energy and ideas to help bridge the gap - plus I need my hips replaced (not PTFA related!) - and so my mobility will be on hold for a while!

Aside from giving back to the school and the wider community, volunteers make firm friends and develop skills they didn't know they had. I do recommend getting more involved. Even 60 minutes of your time each term can make a massive difference. We promise it can be fun, rewarding, and a great way to meet others in the school community. Email us on fieldingPTFA@gmail.com

We’d also like to say a special thank you to the Year 6 families who are moving on to new adventures. Your support over the years has helped build the vibrant school community we have today. We wish you and your children all the very best, and no doubt there will be some emotional farewells in the weeks ahead.

Reflecting on the past year, we’ve had some amazing events:

  • The Parent Quiz Night
  • Our spooky Halloween and eggstatic Easter Trails
  • The Ealing Mini Mile
  • The Back to School Picnic
  • The Mother’s Day Gift Shop
  • Movie Afternoon
  • Weekly Bake Sales
  • Second-Hand Uniform Sales
  • And of course, the Christmas and Summer Fairs.

A real highlight was the Christmas Fair, where the class tea towels alone raised over £4,000 - an idea led by the incredible Gina MacCarthy, a relatively new parent who brought such warmth and creativity to our school community. Gina sadly passed away earlier this year, but the legacy she leaves behind is a lasting one. We are deeply grateful for the time she gave so generously to support Fielding.

Though the school year is drawing to a close, we’re already looking ahead to our September events, including the Back to School Picnic and the Ealing Mini Mile. If you’d like to help out -  in any way at all - we’d love to hear from you.

Wishing you all a wonderful, restful Summer break.
Beir bua & beannacht = Sending best wishes
Conor Lyne, Chair of Fielding Primary School PTFA
