3-0 Victory for Year 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football team

Today Years 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football team played their first knockout game against North Ealing.

The girls went into the match nervous as they had previously played North Ealing to get into the borough finals and that game ended 0-0.

Lana (6F) captain for the game reminded the girls it's all about mindset and that we need to secure early goals. Our attack applied a lot of pressure and continued to press. This resulted in a 3-0 victory in the first half.  Flo G (5S) scored 2 goals, one of which hit the back of the net and her second goal was a deflection from the goalkeeper.  Evie (6S) scored a great goal from a cross.

In the second half, North Ealing brought their A game and came with a fighting spirit. Although they didn't score any goals against us, they did prevent us from scoring any further goals.

Overall, I am delighted with the progress all the girls have made. In particular, Evie (6S) struck the ball with more power, Avaani (6F) attempted more shots at goal and Ruth (6P) made some great one-two passes. Flo H (6H) has developed a significant amount of strength in her shot and adding flight now, Lyla (6H) has developed a better awareness of positioning, and Flo G (5S) has kept her head up more and assisted teammates.

Our defence has always been solid with Martha(6H) making some amazing interceptions and not being afraid to get stuck in with tackles. Emma (6F) has been stretched to play a dual role of defence and attack like a CDM. Rarely have opponents managed to get around Emma (6F). Anya (6F) is great at clearing the ball out of danger. Lana (6F) our goalkeeper has maintained more or less a clean sheet by only concerning a few goals this season. She has learnt how to be ready to dive and more agile with her saves by getting her bearings of the goal.

Well done for making it into the Semi-Finals in the Ealing Girls Cup.
