A Night Journey through Time

It all began with returning to school after tea and assembling into one monstrous line in order to catch the night train to Londinium!  Snaking beneath the city, our tube ride back in time took us to the heart of the City of London, where we were left in awe at the sheer size and beauty of St. Paul’s Cathedral!  Hidden amongst the new shiny towers, we found our destination and the whole group cheered with relief as the sun went down.

After dropping our kit, the troops split into their designated time traveller groups and began their journey through the history of London!  Time warped through Roman Londinium, Norman Medieval London, Tutor grandeur  and then landing in a Victorian mini village we searched by torchlight for clues to help Mr Holmes himself!  Once all the clues were found, and after some deductive reasoning, it was elementary who the culprit was, Moriaty of course!

After the excitement, the time came for all the fearless leaders to gather their platoon and prepare for the long night ahead! The lucky few (like ahhmm, Mrs J!) were straight to sleep whilst for the most of us, the excitement of sleeping in amidst the relicts, knives, swords and skulls took a while to wear off.  Waking fresh as daisies (!), with a quick bite to eat, we all then found a hidden theatre deep in the gallows and were treated to a different kind of London adventure that started in Paddington.

Year 4 would like to thank the brave troop leaders who joined us on this epic adventure and we would like congratulate the children on how well behaved they all were! They did themselves and the school proud, showing what brave explorers and keen learners they are.  The Museum of London staff were all very impressed by the children’s excellent behaviour, prior knowledge and level of engagement in all of the night's activities.  Well done troops!
