Next week (week beginning 12th November) is Anti-bullying week. The national theme for this is `Choose Respect’, this ties beautifully into our Values-based ethos.
During the week we will be using our phase assemblies and PSHE lessons to focus on what bullying is and the different types of bullying. We will be linking this to the concept of choosing to respect people rather than using mean words or actions.
It is very important that we keep this focus on bullying with our children as we want our children to demonstrate their awareness of the value of respect when interacting with each other.
In October, a selection of children from each year group were spoken to about how safe they feel in school, they could all define bullying and most could identify the different types. Overall the children were very positive about how they treat each other. They told us there were very few cases of bullying, and where it did happen the adults had helped resolved the issues. Throughout next week we want to continue to build on this and really make children aware of the potential power of their comments on each other.
Please use next week to focus on the value of respect at home and the importance of treating each person with respect and considering the power of negative actions and words.
