Fielding achieve Platinum Sports Mark and recognised at Featherstone Awards Ceremony

The Featherstone School Sport Partnership held their end of year awards ceremony last week at Featherstone High School to recognise the achievements of schools and pupils in Ealing this year. Lots of awards were handed out and celebrated throughout the evening and we were very proud to see Fielding and some of our pupils recognised with various awards.

Our boys cricket team who won this years Featherstone Best Team Cricket Tournament were awarded Team of the Year. The boys won every single game of the tournament on their way to victory and qualified for this years West London Finals as Team Ealing. Unfortunately, the West London Finals took place while the majority of the team were in France and so our tournament winning team were unable to compete.

Five of our Year 6 pupils were nominated for Star Pupil awards. These pupils were nominated for their own individual successes this year in representing Fielding in various sports. Our nominees didn't win the award but each were invited on stage and awarded a trophy to recognise the nomination. Well done to Lachie, Harry, Arabella, Lily and Viv for their nominations.

Our Girls Football Captain, Viv, was also recognised again as Star Player for the girls football team this year. Viv captained the Girls Football team to the Featherstone Final, Ealing Girls Cup Final and the Women's Euro's Final where we lost each final to Oaklands. On any other year we would have had a Championship winning Girls Football team but the Oaklands team was extremely strong this year.

Finally, Fielding were awarded the 2022 Inclusion Award as we were recognised for the work we have done this year in increasing sporting opportunities for SEND children. We attended Boccia, Kurling, Bowling, Swimming, Panathlon and Football competitions all aimed at SEND children. Each of our teams prepared for the various sports through lunchtime training sessions at school and this hard work paid off as we won Gold medals in Kurling, Silver in Swimming and Bowling and Bronze in Panathlon.

In other big news away from the Featherstone Awards Ceremony, we also found out this week that Fielding have been awarded the Platinum School Games Mark for this academic year. In order to achieve Platinum, schools must achieve Gold in 4 consecutive years and must then complete a case study to demonstrate how they use the School Games to engage people in School Sport and PE. This is a huge achievement which demonstrates the high standards that we have set ourselves over the years and the hard work that all of our pupils put in every single year to engage in PE and School Sport.

Every one in our school community deserves a huge well done for all of our achievements this year and we now look forward to building on those achievements next year.

Happy Summer everyone!
