We need your help, parent voluntary contributions

As you are no doubt aware, school budgets are being increasingly squeezed. For schools like ours the financial pressure is heightened - being a school which is not in a deprived area means that we receive £409 less per pupil per year in government funding than the national average for primary schools, and £943 per pupil less than average for other primary schools in London.

The Governing Board & school leaders have been considering options to reduce costs and increase income. A working party, including school staff, governors and the chair of the PTFA, have considered all options and would like you to consider making a monthly voluntary contribution to the school.

Please continue to support the school

Over recent years the generosity of parents through supporting the PTFA has helped us provide a wide range of opportunities and activities for all Fielding pupils to broaden and enrich their education. This has included the kitchen garden, trips and visits and termly library boxes to support the curriculum. We still need this support, donations to the PTFA  (a registered charity) could also benefit from Gift Aid - see https://www.fieldingprimary.com/voluntary-donation/ for more information.

With the increasing pressure on state school funding, supporting the PTFA is not enough. We now need to ask you for a regular donation to help us bridge the gap between government funding and running costs of the school.  A regular donation will help us preserve the outstanding opportunities we provide for each child. Find out more by watching our short video, or reading our webpages:

In addition to the low level of government funding we receive, unfortunately, COVID has changed matters for the worse. We were already stretched, but we now have to manage with vastly reduced income from our self-generated income and have used up our reserves.

Without regular parent contributions we will need to make changes to the way we provide the education for your child. This includes changes to specialist teaching (PE, French & Music) and to learning support.

Making a contribution

The suggested contribution is £10 per month, per child. If any families are able to support us at a higher or lower level, all contributions will be appreciated equally.

The Governing Board and school leaders are determined that the impact of uncertain funding will make no difference to the quality of education or care your children receive at Fielding.  This is why we have made the decision to ask for your help. We hope you feel that we’re maintaining that commitment in your experience of the school.

Contributions are not compulsory.  Pupil’s experiences will be in no way influenced by whether a voluntary contribution has been made by parents. Pupils who are in receipt of the pupil premium grant (those with a pupil premium passport) are not asked to make a contribution.

Ask us a question

We will be hosting a virtual Q & A session on Friday 18th June at 9.15am, via Microsoft Teams, for you to ask any questions you might have. You can also email your questions in advance by clicking on the link below.
