The Man on the Moon

Over the past few weeks the pupils have been enjoying learning about ‘The Man on the Moon’ by Simon Bartram. This week we have been planning and writing a newspaper article. We have concentrated on the layout of a newspaper, rhetorical questions and speech marks. The pupils have been trying to understand how and when we need to use speech marks. We first explored this through looking at newspaper articles and the effect the speech marks has on a piece of work. This has led to some very interesting quotes about Bob, The Man on the Moon. Mr Theobald,  2S, explained “It’s been excellent to see the transformation in the children’s work. At first they weren’t able to write in the style or use any of the features of a newspaper. However, they are now producing, editing and improving their work using the correct style and features.” This is showing the greater confidence the pupils have and their ability to learn new types of writing and then apply it.
