What you told us, parent survey results

Thank you for your responses to the Annual Parent Survey

This year we had a lower response rate than previous years with responses from 276 families representing 362 pupils, this is down from 434 pupils last year.

You told us that the things you most like about Fielding are:

  • Teaching and learning including the ‘quality’ and ‘commitment’ and ‘the calibre of teachers who seem dedicated, professional and focused on bringing the best out of their students, and themselves’ (90, comments down from 113 comments last year);
  • Outdoor space and environment, including the ‘lovely new kitchen garden’ chickens, forest, field and all of our facilities (67 comments, up from 36 comments last year);
  • Values-based education, including, our welcoming, friendly ethos (63 comments, up from 33 last year);
  • The caring, nurturing environment, including warm and friendly staff (46 comments, new for this year!);
  • Opportunities for sport, music, teams and specialist teaching (29 comments, up from 24 comments last year);
  • The sense of community, including a ‘small school feel’ but all the opportunities and benefits of size (29 comments, down from 35 comments last year).
  • Variety of clubs and childcare (23 comments, new for this year).

You told us that the things you would like to change most are:

  • Communication, majority recognised this has improved but would like to see it more streamlined, some would like more communication with teachers, others more communication about progress. (34 comments in total related to communication, down from 41 comments last year);
  • Nothing! (19 responses)
  • Clubs, including availability and booking arrangements (23 comments, same as last year); 15 comments related directly to booking system, Others to variety of clubs available.
  • More support for teachers in class (16 comments, new for this year)
  • Implementation of the behaviour policy, consistency (12 comments, down from 15 comments last year); this is a change to last year where comments were mainly about playground supervision.

We are delighted that our main strengths have been so positively recognised by parents. The Governing Body and school leaders will begin to consider the highlighted areas for improvement over the next few months. We also recognise that some parents have highlighted other individual strengths and areas for development.
