Embracing Values-Based Living: A Partnership Between Home and School

At Fielding, we are committed to nurturing the holistic development of our pupils through our values-based approach to education. Our core values—respect, resilience, empathy, and reflection—are the foundation of our school community. This year, we are excited to introduce our Values-Based Living initiative, which includes our Inner Curriculum designed to help children develop a strong sense of self and learn how to navigate their emotions and interactions.

What is Values-Based Living?

Values-Based Living emphasises the importance of instilling core values in children, both at school and at home. Our Inner Curriculum helps children understand and manage their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop a sense of purpose and self-worth.

How Can You Support Values-Based Living at Home?

  • Model the Values: Show respect, resilience, empathy, and reflection in your interactions.
  • Use Values Language: Praise your child for showing one of the core values.
  • Create Opportunities for Reflection: Ask questions like, "How did you show respect today?" or "What did you learn from that experience?"
  • Celebrate Values-Based Actions: Recognise and celebrate behaviours aligned with our core values.

Focus for This Half Term

During this half term, we aim to provide parents and carers with a bank of statements that contain our values-based language. Each week, we will focus on a different core value and provide examples of how to talk about the values and use the vocabulary at home. Click here to see our first bank of statements/questions that encourage the understanding of the value respect.
