After half term, KS2 children will focusing their PE learning on the sport of Quicksticks Hockey. This form of the game is a smaller sided version of the game played with bigger, lighter balls to make it easier and safer for the children while they are learning the game. Lessons are always taught within a safe and controlled environment at Fielding and although it is not compulsory that children wear protection in the form of shin pads and gum shields, it is recommended. If children are not wearing shin pads and gum shields they will still take part in PE lessons but could be more prone to injury in the unlikely event that a hockey stick catches them on a shin or the ball bounces up in to the air. In order to make it easier for parents to get shin pads or mouth guards for their children, this year the school has purchased a small stock in order to pass on to parents at cost price.  Shin pads can be purchased for £4.00 and gum shields for £1.50 via laser. Once payment has been confirmed, equipment will be delivered to your child.
