Introducing 'I am a Clever Writer' (IAACW).

As you know, we always aim high for every child. We regularly review our curriculum to ensure we offer the best learning opportunities, based on proven success and solid research.

While writing results are strong, we want them to be even better, so we have recently been researching different approaches to the teaching of writing.

To help our children become even more confident writers, we are introducing the ‘I am a Clever Writer’ (IAACW) program for children in Years 1-6. This new approach focuses on:

• Teaching essential writing skills like sentence construction, grammar, spelling, and handwriting.
• Using a step-by-step process to improve writing.
• Giving direct instruction and targeted practice.
• Encouraging pupils to set goals, monitor their progress, and assess their own writing.
• Providing lots of opportunities to write

Children in Years 2 and 3 will start IAACW later this month after their teachers complete training next week. In January, all other teachers will be trained, and the program will roll out for Years 1-6.
