Today marked the launch of our new playground zones during lunchtimes and break times. The children were excited to explore their playground and find a selection of zoned areas to encourage their play. The construction zone had children from Reception to Year 6 working together to build bridges, cars and pirate ships with the addition of an actual plank for the sailors to walk.  In the performance zone the children played on a selection of musical instruments and took on characters as they dived into the dressing up box of super hero costumes. The craze of the week zone went down well, with the craze this week being spinning plates and hula hoops.  The lunchtime staff modeled a selection of games in the traditional game zone and for the children that preferred some quiet time they headed to the Mindfulness zone under the Fielding tree. Here they relaxed on the new large cushions and looked at books with their friends.  The introduction of the zones coincides with the ground work that has begun on the playground to improve play opportunities for our children.  As the bell rang for the start of the afternoon sessions there were lots of smiles and laughter, an enjoyable day for all.
