School chefs, who take real pride in their work, cooking meals from fresh ingredients daily were the highlights of an external catering review commissioned by the school.

Fielding is part of an Ealing wide catering consortium of schools which manages the school meals contract with Harrison Catering Services.  The current contract ends in August with the school having an option to extend the contract for an additional 2 years until the end of August 2020.

We commissioned an external review of the current school meals service by the Independent Schools Catering Consultancy, who work with schools in the pre-prep, preparatory and state sectors.  

The report highlighted the dedication of Harrison chefs Marines, Tony and Maria to provide a freshly cooked wholesome meal; with our salad bar being one of the best ever seen in a primary school and more akin to that found in independent preparatory schools.

However, the report also noted some weaknesses in the presentation of menus, display and service of food compared to other schools, especially in the independent sector.

The Governing Body has decided to extend the contract for a further 2 years and to work with Harrison to build on our strengths and address our weaker areas.

We will be seeking your views about how we might improve the presentation of menus, display and service of food (within the constraints of the contract and government nutrition standards) shortly.  Later in the year, based on your feedback, we will work with Harrison to test new ideas with pupils.  We aim to fully implement any changes from September 2018.
