An egg-citing update!

Every summer in Reception we have a special delivery of eggs to school that the children look after and witness the chicks hatching.

This previous summer we had a special story when one of the eggs didn't hatch straight away.  After a number of days of doubt an extremely determined, final chick hatched joining his siblings. He was very weak and was born with a bad foot but after a lot of care and love from Miss May, Mrs Lord and the Reception children the chick became stronger and stronger.  The children named him Hercules after his strength of character and determination to be just like his brothers and sisters.

After a number of weeks the chicks, including Hercules were taken to a farm in Essex where they have plenty of space to live the rest of their lives. We have been receiving updates on the chickens as the months have gone on and thought you would all like to see the progress that our chickens and especially Hercules has made.

Four months on he is healthy and happy and his foot is completely healed. We hope this update and photos make you smile as much as it has us!

Year 1 (Reception last year) I am sure that Hercules wants to say a huge thank you!
