Fielding Girls Football team are 3rd best in Ealing!

The Fielding Girls football team were at Featherstone High School on Wednesday to compete in this years Girls Football Borough Finals. We qualified for the finals by finishing as runners up in the Featherstone competition and were now due to compete against the winners of that competition and the 2 finalists from the Willow Tree partnership competition as well. The winners of the Borough Finals go on to represent the Borough of Ealing at the London Youth Games later in the year so we were very excited to try our hardest to win today.

Our first game was against Dairy Meadow, the team we lost to on penalties in the Featherstone final. We started really well and put Dairy Meadow under a lot of pressure. Eventually, the pressure paid off and Viv stepped up with a goal to put us 1-0 up. In the very short, 8 minute games that was enough to start us off with a win.

Game 2 was against St. Gregory's who played very well. They had us under pressure from the start and we defended well until they eventually found a way through to score and go 1-0 up. We fought to get back in to the game but time ran out and we lost.

Our final game, was against Gifford and we knew we had to win it to have any chance of finishing top. The game was end to end with both teams getting chances to take the lead. It was Gifford who broke through first before they quickly added a 2nd. We kept our heads up and Lily got a goal back for us but again we ran out of time and so lost 2-1.

After all games were played, it was St. Gregory's who were crowned Borough champions and we learned that we had finished in 3rd place today. Although, it was a tough afternoon we were pleased with the fact that we could call ourselves the 3rd best team in Ealing. Well done girls!
