Fielding win 3 out of 4 in Girls Football League

Today, the Fielding Girls Football team were at Gunnersbury Park competing in the second round of fixtures in this years brand new Featherstone Girls Football League.

There were a few debuts being made today but after a good training session this morning the girls were ready to go. Our first game today was up against Lady Margaret Primary School in a game which we started really well. The girls were putting Lady Margaret under pressure from the kick off and this paid off as we won 3-0.

In game number 2 we had Clifton. Clifton had a good team and gave us a very tough game. It was end to end with both teams having chances but it was us who finally found the breakthrough to win the game 1-0.

Our third game of the day was against league favourites, Oaklands. We knew we would have to play our best game of the day in order to get this win. We were brilliant in defence and stopped them time after time, with our keeper making save after save but we couldn't hold on. Oaklands did find the back of the net eventually and beat us 2-0.

St. Mark's were our last game of the day and we knew this would be another tough game. We were on the backfoot for most of the game but defended excellently once more. In the final minutes of the game we had a goal kick which got sent long to the other side of pitch. Our striker pounced on the ball to put the Oaklands goalkeeper and defender under pressure and somehow we squeezed the ball into the net for a 1-0 win.

The girls were fantastic today and put us in a great position as we now look forward to round 3 in the summer term. Well done everyone.
