During the last two weeks Year One children have been having lots of fun and building on their learning in all subjects. In Maths we have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have used 100 squares to help us fill in the missing numbers in the sequences and we have practised our 2 times tables. We also compared objects according to length and used the scales to order up to 5 objects according to weight. In English we have reflected on our work which was retelling the story of Max. We edited and improved our first draft and we are now ready to write our final draft. The most exciting day for all of us however was our Superhero Day! Children and staff dressed up as superheroes and spent their day enjoying Maths, English and Art activities linked to our superhero topic. It was brilliant to see so many happy little faces and hear Eleanor in 1P comment, “This is the best day ever!”
