New school dinner menu published, includes Halal options, find out more...

Feeding Hungry Minds have worked with us to produce the new school dinner menu for after the Easter holidays, This now includes Halal options.

School caterers, like Feeding Hungry Minds (ISS), have strict rules to follow regarding what they must provide over a period of time. This menu is on a 3-week rotation to make sure all of the school food standards are met. Here is the checklist that is used to make sure that the menu is healthy and balanced.

A child’s healthy, balanced diet should consist of:

  • plenty of fruit and vegetables
  • plenty of unrefined starchy foods
  • some meat, fish, eggs, beans and other non-dairy sources of protein
  • some milk and dairy foods
  • a small amount of food and drink high in fat, sugar and salt.

Pupils in Reception Year 1 and Year 2 receive a free school meal each day. Did you know that children in Years 3, 4 and 5 & 6 could also receive a free meal if you meet the criteria.

Eligibility for free school meals also opens up other avenues of financial support through our pupil premium passport.

If your child is in Years Reception, Year 1 or 2, you can still check your eligibility for free school meals as this could mean you also get supermarket vouchers for the school holidays and benefit from our 'pupil premium passport'.
