More Music at Fielding:  Opportunities for Y2 children

We at Fielding Primary School are delighted to announce that we are further expanding our music provision to allow Y2 students to sign up for lessons in Violin and Piano.

Lessons will start in January 2018, and are aimed exclusively at beginners in Year 2.  Experts at Ealing Music Service have recruited  two new tutors for us:  Juleka Nwankwo (violin) and Myenard Martilliano (piano).

Violin: 

Lessons will be on Wednesday mornings during school time.  Children will be taught in groups of 2, and each lesson will last 20 minutes.  There will be 20 lessons between January and the end of the school year, and children will have to commit to signing up for the whole 20-session course.  Each lesson costs £7, and payment will be collected in two lots:  one in January and the other following the Easter holiday.

Ealing Music Service does an excellent instrument hire service which is specially recommended for growing children, as the size of the violin depends on the size of the child.  Details are on the Music page of the Fielding web site.

Piano: 

Lessons will be on Wednesday mornings and afternoons during school time.  Children will be taught on a one-to-one basis, and each lesson will last 20 minutes.  There will be 20 lessons between January and the end of the school year, and children will have to commit to signing up for the whole 20-session course.  Each lesson costs £14, and payment will be collected in two lots:  one in January and the other following the Easter holiday.

Children will need access to a piano or keyboard to practise on at home.  There are various options available, depending on budget and space available.  You can find details on the Music page of the Fielding web site.

Signing up and payment:

At present, spaces are limited to 14 children per instrument, but we will consider expanding the provision if required.  To sign up for lessons, please log on to your Laser account.  It will be First-Come-First-Served, and after 14 spaces for each instrument have been filled, you will go on a waiting list.

Don’t assume that you have got a place until Mr Mappin contacts you, and remember, this is for current Y2 children only.
