Planning application for Fielding Walk entrance gate

A planning application has been submitted to Ealing Council, seeking approval to add a new pedestrian entrance gate from the footpath known as 'Fielding Walk' to the school site.  A new internal pathway from the gate to the corner of the Pirate Ship and playground, following the boundary of 'Fielding Forest' is also proposed.

Two existing entrances to the school from Wyndham Road and Coombe Road are both heavily used at main pupil drop-off and collection times.  Expansion of the Nursery from January 2018, added an additional 30 places, resulting in over 100 pupils attending our Nursery at different times during the week via the Coombe Road entrance.  A change in Council admission criteria several years ago, removing former 'catchment areas' and replacing these with distance criteria from the school to home has resulted in more pupils being admitted to the school from the east and south of the school site.  The proposed new entrance gate and internal pathway to the main playground and classroom doors is intended to alleviate congestion and give better access to the school site to families living south of Haslemere Avenue (to the east of the school site) and Altenburg Avenue (to the west of the school).

The new pathway will also benefit all pupils, allowing us to give children more time using the Pirate Ship, climbing trees, Fielding Forest, logs and mounds during winter/spring months as a result of the improved, paved access.

If planning permission is granted, contractors are ready to start with the gate opening for main morning drop-off and afternoon collection as early in the new school year as possible.
