PTFA recruiting parents now

AGM on Monday 3rd October at 7.30pm, Main Hall

All parents are encouraged to come to the PTFA AGM and get involved. There will be wine and nibbles and we have even managed to avoid the GBBO final this year, so there is no excuse not to come down.

Last year the PTFA raised a whopping £29,000 for the school, but this didn't happen by accident...

Our PTFA team is made up of a diverse group of parents, with children in different school years. Many of the current committee work part or full time, or still have very young children at home, so we completely understand parents have time constraints and would only expect people to do as much as they feel comfortable with.

For many of us, this is the first time we've been on a committee  but with the support of the outgoing committee and by working together we have arranged some memorable events and had lots of fun in the process. Being part of the PTFA has enabled us to meet other parents across the school years, make great friends, who we probably wouldn’t have got to know otherwise. It is a great source of information on what to expect as your child moves up the school, which clubs to get your names down for and even a good source of hand me downs!  Being part of the committee allows you to have a say on the events we run.

We are very privileged to live in such a fantastic community and the school is a big part of that. When we work together we can achieve so much.

We will need new members on the PTFA committee this year for these events to continue. Everyone is welcome and there will be lots of support for people taking on new roles. All of the positions can be shared, if you were concerned about how much time you have to commit.

We appreciate there are many parents with a wealth of experience in their current professional roles and their professional life prior to having children and we would love your support. It is also a great way to buff up your CV in preparation to a return to work, if you have had a few years off while your children have been young. Many of the current committees jobs have no relevance to the PTFA, but we have found it a really useful environment to develop new skills.

This year we have many positions which need filling. We often have parents suggesting great new ideas to us, but we need bodies to help see those ideas through.. so please come forwards.

At the AGM we will celebrate the success of the past year with a glass of wine and elect the committee for the coming school year. The more of us involved the smoother things run and the less of a time commitment it is all round.

Volunteering for the PTFA is very rewarding. We raise a huge amount of money for the school which funds improvement projects, equipment and enrichment opportunities for all our children. But we feel the best part of being involved is seeing how much pleasure the events we put on bring to the children and adults attending. Highlights of the school year such as the fairs, the camp out, the Easter bunny trail, the roller discos, school discos and Quiz Night simply would not happen without the PTFA and volunteers support.

If you want any further information regarding the committee, or would like to be involved but are not able to make the meeting please email us at the PTFA email address.

We look forward to seeing many of you on the 3rd October and having your support in the 2016 / 2017 School Year.
