PTFA School's Out Summer Picnic - Important Info and Volunteers

The PTFA is running its last event of the academic year on Saturday and we have some important information for anyone planning to attend.  You can still purchase tickets at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/fieldingptfa/715659/

  • Volunteers: We are really light on volunteers to help out on the BBQ (5pm-6pm and 6pm-7pm) and some of the later slots on the Bar. If we don't get these covered then we'll sadly close them down completely. If you can spare a bit of time please sign up at https://fieldingptfa.ivolunteer.com/fieldingpicnic_002  This is where the PTFA makes the most money!
  • Entrance Gate:  Please use the Fielding Walk gate - which is located on the footpath that links Northcroft Road with Midhurst Road. It is to the south/back of the school grounds. No other gates will be open. Gates only open for 30mins at 2pm, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. There will be a key holder at the bar or Nolan O'Connor will be around to let people out if timings become difficult but we try to limit access due to volunteers.
  • Bar/BBQ/refreshments:  We plan to run a bar and BBQ during parts of the afternoon.  This includes a freezer with ice lollies. Cash and card will be available. Samosas Direct will also be serving fresh samosas until about 5pm (depending on when stock runs out).
  • Water Play: We'll have a sprinkler running close to the Kitchen Garden Area and we will also have a couple of bins filled with water should children want to bring down water pistols. The area won't be managed by adults so you may want to oversee things. A change of clothes for the children may also be advised.
  • Fire Engine Visit:  We are expecting a visit from Ealing Fire Brigade at 2.30pm. Unless they are called for an emergency, then they will be coming in via the Coombe Road entrance but cannot access the school field due to building works.  We'll announce it via the PA system, but it's not necessarily loud enough to go across the whole field.
  • Q-Bot Challenge: For the first time, the Summer Picnic will be showcasing a Human vs Machine challenge.  These robots usually work hard to fight climate change by insulating, and thus reducing CO2 emissions, from thousands of homes around the UK.  Children and adults alike will be able to have a go at controlling these robots in a competition organised by Q-Bot (a London company that uses robots to insulate homes https://q-bot.co/robotic-under-floor-insulation)
  • Gazebos:  Feel free to bring a gazebo or anything else that might help shade you from the sun.  There will be a mallet and stake to help make a hole in the grass, but the ground is very hard.  We expect shade under the trees to be in high demand
  • Toilets: The School House will be open for us to use as the main school building will be closed.  Toilets are located on the ground floor of the School House (just through the kitchen) or at the top of the stairs.  The school house is located at the front of the school and can be accessed by walking around the side of the school by the Kitchen Gardens Year 3 classrooms.
  • Covid:  Although the school has highlighted a rise in Covid cases at the school, the Picnic is still planned to go ahead due to it being outside and generally socially distanced unlike the classroom.  If you or anyone in your family experience any symptoms then please test before attending the picnic.

Thanks again for your support and look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
