School is closing early at 1.45pm today because classrooms are becoming too hot.

 

Please collect children from school as soon as you can from 1.45pm:

• Year 6 - Main Hall;
• Year 5 - Sports Hall;
• Year 4 - Dining Hall (usual doors);
• Nursery, Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3 from usual classroom doors.

If you cannot collect your child, we will look after them, using the coolest rooms in school, until you arrive.

 

If you have booked after-school childcare or a specialist club, please collect as soon as you can. If you cannot collect your child, we will look after, using the coolest rooms in school until your arrive. Refunds for specialist clubs will be added to your account before next term.

 

We tried to stay open to all pupils. We are sorry to close and inconvenience parents in this way. Temperatures in some classrooms have reached 35C at 1pm. Other classrooms are 30-35C. Yesterday temperatures rose by 2-4C in each room by 3pm. It's too hot inside for pupils to stay in school.

 

There will be no remote learning because teachers need time to prepare and plan on-line lessons. They cannot switch to remote lessons this quickly.
