Termly safeguarding assembly - talking to your children about keeping safe from harm

Termly Safeguarding assembly for children in Years 1-6

During assembly on Monday 24th April Mr Dumall and I will be talking to the children about how to keep themselves safe. We  will help the children understand that it is their right to be happy and safe and to encourage the understanding that any problem or worry that they may have is legitimate, and to share their worries – big or small – with their trusted adult; at home, at school, or with ChildLine.

During the assembly we focus on  different forms of abuse, and an how to recognise the signs of harm or abuse, including child on child and domestic abuse, and keeping secrets. These topics will be tackled in an age-appropriate way and child will be given time to discuss the issues are any worries with their class teacher after the assembly.

Click here to see the slides that will be used for Monday’s assembly, you may wish to look at this in advance, in case your child has any questions.

We will be using the storybook: Share Some Secrets, a video of the story can be viewed here.
