Investigating properties of 2D shapes.

This week, Year 1 began a new Maths topic: 2D and 3D shapes. On Monday, some of the children went on a shape hunt around school to find shapes in everyday school life. “This activity enabled the children to explore the topic of shape in a hands-on, practical way” said Mrs. Gill, Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The children also sorted 2D shapes into Venn diagrams according to their properties. “We counted the sides and the corners and sorted the shapes into the correct Venn diagram hoop according to the heading” said Evan.
