Year 3 writing, following our updated English curriculum policy

In Year 3 we have continued with our work on a character description of Oliver Twist. The children have used their first draft as a starting point to introduce their new learning into a second draft. We have focused on the children’s confidence in using extended sentences within their work, in particular subordinate clauses. The children finished their second draft and then analysed what they had written against the success criteria, identifying strengths and areas for improvement in their work. They then wrote up their final draft with all of the improvements. Miss McGee commented, ‘It is lovely to see all of the Year 3 children motivated to up level their work.  They can see their progress from their first attempt.’
