Year 5 & 6 Girls Football team Primary Stars Qualifier

In a thrilling display of skill, the Year 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football Team showcased their talent at the Primary Stars Qualifier football tournament. The stakes were high, with the opportunity to represent Brentford Football Club and play in a Premiership stadium dangling  close.

Facing intimidating opponents, the Fielding girls demonstrated their resilience from the outset. Their first match against Trafalgar ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw, with Coco (5P) notching the opening goal of the game. Despite a setback against St Edmunds, who proved to be swift on the ball and secured a 2-0 victory, Fielding Girls bounced back with a resounding 2-0 win over Southville, thanks to goals from both Coco(5P) and Qamara (5S).

Momentum surged as Fielding Girls faced off against Holy Family, where a last-minute equalizer resulted in another 1-1 draw. Undeterred, the girls' triumphed over East Sheen in their final group stage match, clinching a 2-1 victory with goals once again from Coco (5P) and Qamara (5S).

Securing a spot in the semi-finals, Fielding Girls faced a tough rematch against St Edmunds,  who eventually became tournament winners.  Even though we didn't win the the semi-final clash, our journey to the penultimate stage shows a significant achievement, as we finished 4th overall in the tournament.

Adelaide (6S) made some great saves in Goal. Our defense: Daisy (5P), Lois(5P), Miral (5H), Darcy (6P), Flo G (6S) all did their best to get the ball out and support strikers.

This competition served as a valuable challenge for the Year 5 & 6 Girls, who were accustomed to dominating local games with significant margins. The experience we gained will be instrumental in preparing us for the upcoming London Games on 19th March 2024.

Despite narrowly missing out on the opportunity to represent Brentford Football Club, the Year 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football Team can hold their heads high, having displayed commendable skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their fourth-place finish is a testament to their dedication and talent on the field.

A special thanks to...

Adelaide (6S), Flo (6S), Miral (5H), Darcy (6P), Qamara (5S), Coco (5P), Lois (5P), Daisy (5P)
