Welcome to Fielding Nursery
The nursery at Fielding Primary School is where your child's educational journey begins and adventures await. Fielding Nursery offers teacher-led education for three and four year old's and is a fantastic place for children to begin their learning and development. The nursery has all the advantages of being part of an “outstanding” primary school (OFSTED Feb 2017) while offering the flexibility of care, including full time from 7.30am to 6pm and in addition holiday care, usually associated with private nurseries.
The nursery is led by an Early Years Teacher, who is also Assistant Head Teacher, and a dedicated Nursery Manager. In term time the Early Years Teacher is responsible for the educational content and delivering the early years curriculum within an environment which enables outstanding provision for learning, development, growth and hunger for each child to reach their full potential. The nursery team includes specialist Early Years Practitioners (EYP), Teaching Assistants (TA) and Play Workers (PW), all with a focus on excellence in education. In order to provide an outstanding service we operate a significantly higher ratio of adults to children than the statutory requirements. During the school holidays the learning continues with a greater emphasis on play and exploration, led by our Nursery Manager.
Fielding Nursery is a larger than average nursery with well-maintained facilities and extensive space both inside and out. The number of children attending and the freedom for them to move between groups enables children to make friendships across the nursery and provides a helpful transition to the size of primary school classes.
Nursery learning and childcare matches that of the extended school day offered to families and siblings at Fielding Primary School and is especially designed to support local working parents with their childcare needs. For term time session selection is flexible at the point of application and can be chosen on a part-time or full-time basis depending on availability and the needs of each family. All term time sessions include a meal and occasional ad hoc sessions can be booked at short notice if space is available.
During the school holidays, nine weeks of full time care are available to all children attending the nursery. The session times and costs are the same as in term time and families can book the same sessions as in term time or they can vary the pattern. Sessions are flexible and can be taken on a part-time or full-time basis depending on availability and the needs of each family.
The nursery is a competitively priced fee paying nursery with access to all eligible government funding to offset some or most of the costs. Nursery has three sessions during the day and each is charged separately to ensure families are able to choose the sessions they require.
Fielding Nursery benefits from being connected to the main school and taking part in whole school events and celebrations including author visits, World Book Day and charity fundraising. We do not offer 'traditional' three-hour sessions as other school nurseries but children can attend for 15 hours in three five-hour sessions. We have close links with Reception teaching and pupils which helps the transition from Nursery to Reception. However admission to nursery, does not guarantee a place in Reception Year.
Do explore our website here to find out more about the nursery including having a look at the Nursery Noticeboard with up to date information about our activities.
