This week in English, the Year 3 children have pulled together all of their work from this sequence of lessons to write their final draft of their newspaper articles. We have focused on the type of language that we need to use in our articles in order to ensure they are written using emotive language. To do this the children have analysed newspaper articles and identified technical vocabulary that the reporter has used to set the tone. The children were then able to use the language they had identified to edit and improve their own articles, helping to change the tone from narrative to emotive. Miss Allen, Year 3 Lead Teacher, commented, “It was clear that the children benefitted from reading other newspaper articles. They could then use them to up-level their own work which helped to change the tone of the articles. I was delighted to see the final drafts presented with such care, with such a high standard of writing.”
