  • Fielding vs Fielding in boys football final

    Thu 15 Nov 2018

On Monday, Fielding hosted a B team boys football tournament on the school field which was attended by 6 other schools. Fielding entered 2 teams to even out the numbers and all 8 teams entered into matches for an afternoon of very entertaining football. Both Fielding teams were drawn in different groups and both performed superbly. They did so well in fact that both teams made it to the final to set up a Fielding vs Fielding nailbiter. The teams couldn't break each other down in normal time and so the game went to penalties. Again it was extremely close and went to sudden death. Eventually, Frankie stepped up for the 'Blues' knowing that if he scored the 'Blues' would win...and he scored!! Congratulations to the Blues for being crowned B team champions. Well done to every player who played Monday for all demonstrating some excellent sporting values.

  • PTFA Movie Afternoon - Thank you

    Tue 13 Nov 2018

Thank you to everyone who came to the PTFA Movie Afternoon

A big thank you to the 150 children and their parents/carers who came to watch a movie on Sunday afternoon at the school and as a result, helped to raise money for the school.

We hope you all enjoyed Incredibles 2 or Sing-along with the Greatest Showman. There was a great atmosphere in both halls and the singing was fantastic!

A special thank you must also go to all of our volunteers who make these events possible.

We now look forward to our next event taking place on Saturday 01 December, The Fielding Christmas Fair (12:00 - 16:00).

Santa has confirmed that he will be making a special appearance, so it promises to be lots of fun! Tickets will be on sale soon so watch this space

The next parent and carer drop-in will be held on Thursday 22nd November, between 9am and 10am, in the school house. This will be an opportunity to speak to myself and Mrs Reehal about your child's learning and well-being. We look forward to seeing you there.

  • Autumn play time arrangements

    Fri 09 Nov 2018

We have reached that time in the school year when we change our playtime and lunchtime arrangements to suit the conditions with the weather.  From Tuesday 13th November the school field will not be in general use during play times and lunch times. Our QPR coaches will still use the field during their lunch time sessions but children are reminded to bring in a change of shoes for these sports.  The children will continue to have access to the pirate ship and climbing logs during the play sessions outside.

    QPR sessions (lunchtimes)

    Monday - P&S classes (girls)

    Tuesday - H&F classes (girls)

    Wednesday - P&S classes (boys)

    Thursday - H&F classes (boys)

Friday - All classes (mixed sessions)

Also a reminder from Ellie our allotment gardener that children need to be wearing non school uniform that they do not mind being dirty or marked during their gardening sessions.

During this term we would also like to promote to our pupils the importance of sport and the range of sports available.  Our focus this term will be with our female students to encourage more girls to participate in the sports opportunities available at Fielding.  If you are a female parent/carer who enjoys and participates in a particular sport and would like to be involved in this project then please express your interest through email to Mr Webb.  We are planning to organise a number of assemblies where female parents can promote their enjoyment of sports and highlight the range of sports available to children.

  • Anti-bullying week

Thu 08 Nov 2018 Laura Stabler

    Anti-bullying week 2018

Next week (week beginning 12th November) is Anti-bullying week. The national theme for this is `Choose Respect’, this ties beautifully into our Values-based ethos.

During the week we will be using our phase assemblies and PSHE lessons to  focus on what bullying is and the different types of bullying. We will be linking this to the concept of choosing to respect people rather than using mean words or actions.

It is very important that we keep this focus on bullying with our children as we want our children to demonstrate their awareness of  the value of respect when interacting with each other.

In October,  a selection of children from each year group were spoken to about how safe they feel in school, they could all define bullying and most could identify the different types. Overall the children were very positive about how they treat each other. They told us there were very few cases of bullying, and where it did happen the adults had helped resolved the issues. Throughout next week we want to continue to build on this and really make children aware of the potential power of their comments on each other.

Please use next week to focus on the value of respect at home and the importance of treating each person with respect and considering the power of negative actions and words.

There is link to the anti-bullying alliance below for further information.

  • Uniform and girls fashion latest crazes

Thu 08 Nov 2018 Clare Haines

Parents of girls we need your help!

Last year latest hair accessories became a focus on many girls gift lists, starting with the JoJo Bow! Many girls wore these to school, generally keeping with our school colours. Towards the end of the summer term  this moved onto discrete cat ears on hairbands again in school colours. Since September we have noticed retailers such as Smiggle and Claire's have pushed this further and some girls are now coming to school wearing brightly coloured sparkly cat ears or even big floppy dog ears!

We want to avoid extreme banning of items so that parents and children have some choice of expression. However we parents and children to use sensible discretion when choosing hair accessories to wear to school:

    • Preferred - plain, black or blue (gingham in Summer) Alice band
    • Other hair accessories, school colours, white, blue, black, neutral & small in size are just about acceptable
    • Large and/or brightly coloured eg. dog ears or a unicorn horn are not acceptable.
  • Reception playground, retrospective planning application

Thu 08 Nov 2018 Peter Dunmall

A retrospective planning application has been submitted to Ealing Council for the Reception playground as requested by Ealing's planning enforcement team.

The school undertook development works to the existing playground over the summer holiday to improve learning and play opportunities for our pupils.  We believed that works complied with planning regulations according to Permitted Development rights for schools.

Neighbours complained about a loss of privacy and noise from pupils to Ealing Council.  We listened to neighbours' concerns and responded by modifying the height of the play structures to restore their sense of privacy, whilst maintaining the learning opportunities for pupils.  Some parents have speculated that the height of the platforms were lowered and the slide was relocated as a result of safety concerns.  There were no safety concerns about our play structures.  The changes have been made solely as a result of neighbours' complaints.

Ealing's planning enforcement team requested that we submit a retrospective planning application.  We commissioned planning consultants, Firstplan Ltd, to submit the application on our behalf.  A decision is expected by January 2019.

The planning application is available for viewing and comment:

  • Tag rugby competition, runner's up

Tue 06 Nov 2018 Ashley Winn

Today we entered 2 teams into this years Tag rugby tournament held at Brentham Club.

The Blue team had been drawn in group D alongside Little Ealing B, North A, Woodlands A, Hambrough A.

First up was woodlands who we beat 3-0 great start, second match was against North who we again beat 3-0. Next was a bit of a rest as the little Ealing B team had pulled out so we were automatically awarded a 1-0  victory. Final match in this group stage was against Hambrough who we beat 3-1. Topped the group through to the second groups stage on the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the green team who had been drawn in a tough group alongside Little Ealing A, Tudor , Selbourne, Berrymeade.

Started with a strong 3-1 win against Tudor, followed by a tough draw against a good Berrymeade team. A great 1-0 win over Selbourne and a hard fought 1-0 defeat against Little Ealing.

They had done enough to finish 2nd in the group and they too would progress to the afternoon groups.

Both teams had been drawn in the same group for the afternoon matches along with St Marks and Berrymead A.

First up was the blue team to face St Marks, they won 2-1. Green team were next against Berrymead A they too won 3-1.

Next was the big match up Fielding against Fielding a great match which highlighted just how much work this group has put in over the last few months. Ended in a 2-2 draw meaning that a win for the Blue team against Berrymead A would put them into the semi finals. They did the job and won 2-1, one team into the semis could the green team do the same they faced St Marks A. The match did not disappoint it was a cracker Fielding winning 3-2. Both Teams into the Semi Finals.

Blue Team had to face Little Ealing A, very tough opposition. The match was tied after full time at 2-2 and the match went all the way through extra time into golden try it looked like there was going to be no separating the sides until a great bit of play saw Fielding create some space and took full advantage to score the golden try and take them into the final.

Green team were unfortunate to come up against a very strong Mt Carmel side and fought until the end but came away in defeat with a 2-0 loss. A all Fielding final was not to be.

So Blue team had to face Mt Carmel in the final and after a semi final that had taken a alot out of them they had a quick turn around and the game was 1-1 at full time so more extra time was needed, still no score at the end meant golden try again and this time it was not Fielding celebrating. 2-1 loss in the final but still qualified for the area finals to play to represent Ealing in the London youth games in a couple of weeks time.

Green team had a 3rd and 4th match to play against Little Ealing, they too did not get the result they will of wanted loosing 2-1 after going in front meant they had to settle for 4th overall.

Huge well done to all that took part today and others that have worked hard and didn't quite make this years squads, you can all be very proud of your achievements.
