  • Childcare and specialist clubs fee increase

Thu 29 Jun 2023 Karen Esprit

5% increase in fees for childcare and specialist clubs from the start of the autumn term.

Fees increase from Friday 1st September. New fees are:

    • Breakfast club, £6.70
    • After-school club (single session), £6.70
    • Ad-hoc after school club, £18,20
    • Specialist clubs, £6.70
    • Holiday club (day), £41.70
    • Ad-hoc holiday club, £48.20

The Governing Board considered an increase in staff and other running costs for our new financial year from April, including at least an 8% pay rise for support staff across Ealing. We were mindful of the rising cost of living and financial pressure on working families, keeping fee increases as low as possible.

  • Anti-bullying workshop: What to do if your child tells you they've been bullied.'

Thu 29 Jun 2023 Philippa Whaley

Members of the Anti-bullying Action group:  Miss Whaley, Phil Kennedy, Mrs Reehal and Miss Watson, welcomed parents and carers to their first Anti-bullying workshop this morning.

Phil Kennedy, Leader of Play, spoke about Fielding's pupil-centred approach to dealing with bullying and the introduction of Anti-bullying Ambassadors this year, sharing some of the initiatives that they've been working on. Mrs Reehal, our Learning Mentor, spoke about the short-term and long-term  impact of bullying on pupils and how she supports those who have experienced bullying behaviour and Miss Watson shared our school procedures for investigating, dealing with and following up on bullying behaviour when it has been reported.

The session ended by actively involving parents and carers in the process of putting together a one-page guide for parents, 'What to do if your child tells you they've been bullied.' The final version will be shared with parents prior to the end of the Summer term.

If you were unable to attend the session this morning but would like to find out more, please view the pdf document of the slides used here.

  • 1st Place in Women's World Cup

Thu 29 Jun 2023 Natasha Pasha

Today Years 4, 5 and 6 Girls' teams took part in the Women's World Cup run by Featherstone Partnership. Fielding were asked to represent the country Australia.

    Fielding vs St Marys A

    3 - 0

    Fielding vs St Marks C

    6 - 1

    Fielding vs Tudor Primary

    4 - 1

    Fielding vs Acton Gardens

    1 - 0

Due to the fact we successfully won the group stages, we made it into the quarter-finals against St Marys B. Fielding won 1 - 0.

Next up we were in the semi-final against Dairy Meadow and won 2 -1.

Now, the pressure was on as we had made it into the final against Oaklands. It was a tough game as both teams shared possession 50/50. Then in the second half of the game Anouk (6P) from the halfway line managed to score a real blinder. This resulted in us being crowned champions of the Women's World Cup.

This was our last game of this academic year and I am delighted with how well they played together.

    Special thanks to...

    Lana (6F), Emma (6F), Anya (6F), Anouk (6P), Coco (4P), Ruth (6P), Avaani (6F), Miral (4H), Qamara (4S), Flo G (5S)

  • Healthy snack expectations

    Thu 29 Jun 2023 Miss L Stabler

As a school that promotes the importance of making good, healthy choices, we look at what pupils are eating at breaktimes and lunchtimes. We have noticed that some children are bringing in unhealthy snacks for morning break and as part of packed lunches. Can we ask you to check the following:

    • Break-time snacks should be fruit only (this is provided for children in Early Years and key-stage 1).
    • Pupils are not sharing their snacks/lunch with each other to limit potential exposure to allergens.
    • Lunchboxes should be balanced and healthy.
    • We are a nut free school so no products that contain nuts should be bought into school.

We know that it can be tricky to think of new healthy snack options and packed lunch ideas. Please see the links below for ideas. Please also see our guidance on school dinners. Thank you

  • Industrial action, 5th & 7th July: school closed, childcare and Nursery open

Mon 26 Jun 2023 Peter Dunmall

The National Education Union (NEU) is taking industrial action on Wednesday 5th & Friday 7th July. As a result of this action:

    • main school, Reception - Year 6 - closed to all pupils.
    • ARP - closed to all pupils.
    • Nursery - open to children, as usual. Children to attend and wear Nursery uniform as usual.
    • childcare, Breakfast & After-School Clubs, and specialist clubs are open as usual. Pupils may attend and wear clothes of their choice.

The school is open to all pupils as usual on Thursday 6th July.

The risk of not having enough staff to teach pupils in school, including the risk of a picket line and staff not wishing to cross any picket line, means that the main school and ARP are closed to all pupils. Too few teachers have confirmed that they are working to open just a single year group.

Wrap around childcare - Breakfast and After-School Clubs - are open. If parents wish to cancel a booking, we will issue a credit to your child's childcare account. We are trying to be flexible to support any essential childcare needs at times we would usually be open while giving parents the flexibility to cancel if a booking no longer suits your arrangements.

Specialist clubs - before and after school - will run as scheduled. If your child does not attend we will offer a refund, on request to the clubs email address.

Pupils who receive a benefits-related free school meal may collect a packed-lunches.

We are not providing remote education because we want to maintain harmonious employee relationships and do not expect teachers who are taking strike action to plan and prepare lessons in advance or teachers who are not taking strike action to cover for their colleagues. Parents may wish to use lessons and resources published by the government funded Oak Academy.

Whilst parents will, inevitably, experience some inconvenience, please remember that this industrial action has met all legal requirements and that teachers do not take the decision to strike lightly.

Some teachers may attend picket lines at the Wyndham Road and/or Coombe Road entrances. Access for pupils and parents should not be restricted by any picket lines.
