Have an active and healthy Easter everyone!
After the Easter holidays we will be holding boys and girls cricket trials for Year 4, 5 and 6 children. The trials will be held in the second week back on Wednesday 26th April at 7.45am. There will be a number of skill drills to complete as well as some game play in which children can demonstrate their cricket ability. We are hoping to invite a squad of 16 boys and 16 girls for training so get practising over the holidays!
Enjoy your Easter eggs guys and we will see you fresh and ready for a new term in a few weeks.
The PE Team
Bored with the holiday already? Stuck for something to do? Feeling inspired?
If you can answer YES to at least one of those, then read on...
The next Fielding music assembly will be on May 15th. It's a special opportunity for budding composers to perform their music. GUIDELINES are on the Music page (CLICK). Singers, instrumentalists, solos, groups...it should be a real showcase of talent. Get thinking, improvising, writing and playing. Remember to sign up with Mr Mappin after the holiday.
Good Luck!
Are you lucky enough to be travelling to France over the Easter break? If you happen to catch your children using their French skills while in France, please send in photos/short videos so we can celebrate this with their class. Children may also wish to bring something from France to show and tell.
Also, please remember that there are hours of engaging and motivating French resources available to the children on the school website. It's a great way to practise the language skills when children have a little spare time: French website
The school has improved from its ‘good’ judgement in all areas at the previous inspection in July 2012.
Fielding is the first primary school in Ealing to achieve an ‘outstanding’ judgement under the current inspection framework, introduced in September 2015. Education commentators generally consider this framework to have the highest expectations on schools yet with ‘hard won’ outstanding judgements. Nationally, 3% of 1,097 primary schools between September and December 2016 inspected by Ofsted were judged as ‘outstanding’.
The Governing Body, school leaders and staff are delighted that the Ofsted team recognised the very high quality of our work across the school to provide the very best outcomes and start in life for all of our pupils.
Every member of staff contributed to the judgements through their work. A very rigorous inspection took place over 2 days and included lesson observations, scrutiny of pupils’ work in books, analysis of assessment information, parents’ views and interviews with groups of pupils, governors, staff and school leaders. Every aspect of the school’s work was thoroughly tested and evaluated by lead inspector, Amanda Carter-Fraser (Her Majesty’s Inspector), and a team of education professionals, most of whom are serving London Head teachers who also work for Ofsted as inspectors.
Whilst delighted with the outcome of this inspection, we recognise that pupils, staff, government policy and education research findings continue to change over time. We will continue to evaluate the impact of our work and strive to give our pupils the very best education that we can.
For now, we would like to thank parents for their continued support and we hope that pupils and parents will share in celebrating the success of the school.

The Summer Term Clubs launch proved to be a much smoother experience for parents, splitting the year groups over two evenings worked well. Thank you to everyone who suggested this improvement and gave feedback.

Specialist clubs fees must be paid for at the point of booking unless using childcare vouchers, once raised these will be received within 5 working day.
Childcare
Childcare fees are due at the start of term; pay either the total amount in full or half at the start of term and the remainder by 2nd June.
Please remember to check your childcare bookings on Laser, are they still correct and needed?
Childcare continues to roll over termly until parents cancel through Laser, this will then prompt a 4 week notice period. We will remove childcare bookings that clash with specialist clubs without charge, email childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk to assist.
Fielding Holiday Club
Fielding Holiday club will be running next week, we still have places available for children in reception to Year 6. There are great free trips planned and fun activities to keep the children happy over the Easter break.
The Fielding boys and girls football teams played against Christ the Saviour in the Peal Shield yesterday after school. Both teams were excellent and registered very good wins in the competition. The girls have cemented their place in the semi finals and the boys have now given themselves a very good chance of joining them.
Check out the PE page for tables and match reports.
Tests in Year 2 will support on-going teacher assessment and will form part of the children's end of key-stage outcomes. In Year 6 the tests will take place between May 8th and 11th. The Year 6 tests will be external marked and reported on separately to teachers assessments, we will discuss these further at the Year 6 parent information session on Wednesday 26th April at 6.30pm.
The DfE have produced a useful guide for parents to explain how the National Curriculum tests are administered and how the results are used. Click on the link below to read the guidance:
We have also previously published a useful guide for Year 2 parents which can be found on the Year 2 noticeboard.
To find out more about teh differnt ways we assess your child's learning at Fielding take a look at our assessment page.
Yesterday Fielding hosted a football tournament for Year 3 and 4 children on the school field. We had the grass cut, put down fresh lines, got the nets up and invited some schools. Due to a last minute drop out we had 5 schools visiting us today for a tournament involving 7 teams. Every school had a great time at our tournament and we some some brilliant football being played by quite possibly some of next years Peal Shield squads!
After all games were played we were very pleased that everything had run so smoothly but also because our A team won the tournament while the B team were 3rd! Excellent football from Fielding once again.
Check out the PE page for the full report and lots of pictures.

This afternoon, pupils from Orion constellation came together to celebrate their success this term for collecting the most stars, demonstrating exceptional behaviour and values. Pupils were split into four groups, based on their class letter (H, F, P or S), and they enjoyed four different sport or art based zones. Star Leaders were in charge of the zones, which included; origami, chalk and water art, climbing frames and bench ball. As an additional treat, they also enjoyed biscuits and a selection of refreshing drinks. The sunshine was an added bonus and aided the success of the afternoon. Well done Orion! Who will be the winners next half term…?
