Today Fielding took 10 boys from Year 4 to play in a local Ealing Cluster tournament.
Nerves were high when the fixture list had been released as we knew we were playing local rival Little Ealing. Initially, the defence kept tight but no goals had been scored so they were encouraged to press forward. Unfortunately, diving in too early and leaving the goalkeeper exposed cost us our first game. The boys remained confident and communicated much better in defence for our second game against St Marks. The game was neck and neck and St Marks scored the first goal. Followed by an equaliser by Tommi (4P). Fielding kept the majority of the possession in the game and were putting St Marks under pressure. A few shots were fired but didn’t make it to the back of the net when suddenly Rory (4S) scored our second goal. Unfortunately, the last minute of the game resulted in the game being a draw. The boys’ held their heads high and grew in confidence as they learned to play together as a team. The third game was against Mount Carmel who scored the first goal which was immediately followed up by an equaliser by Arlo. Resulting in the score of 1-1. Then with a few minutes left of the game, Arlo took a shot that deflected from one of the players. Oaklands was our last game and they had been watching us play. They played very tight in defence which made it difficult to score past them. Eventually, Joesph (4P) managed to score an absolute blinder from the halfway line. This meant Fielding won 2-1 against Oaklands.
Well done to Rohan (4P) and Tommi (4P) who both shared the position of goalkeeper.

Year 5 & 6 Girls Ealing Girls Cup League Match vs St Marks
Today, the girls came in confident as they had recently played St Marks in a tournament. They had a game plan and they stuck to it. As the goalkeeper took the goal kick Flo H (6H) came in intercepted and scored an early goal. The strength in our team came from our solid defence. We had Annabelle (6H) playing her debut and she didn’t let anyone get past her. We also had Martha (6H) and Anya (6F) communicating well to get the ball out every time St Mark’s pressured towards our goal. At half time the score was 1-0 to Fielding. In the second half, changes were made and Lyla (6H), Ruth (6P), and Evie (6S) came on and pressed forward in the attack which meant we were holding a lot more possession of the game. As no further goals were being scored other changes had to be made Flo G (5S) came on and scored 2 goals straight into the back of the net. In our final goal Evie (6S) crossed the ball to Emma (6F) to blast the ball into the back of the net. Great teamwork girls!
Fielding won 4-0!!!
Special Thanks to all the players in our performance team ...
Lyla (6H), Flo G (5S), Flo H (6H), Emma (6F), Evie (6S), Ruth (6P), Martha (6H), Lana (6F), Anya (6F), Annabelle (6H)
Thank you also to Coach Andy for his continued support to the team!
Today we played our local rival St Marks, they were off to a fiery start by scoring the first goal of the match. Fielding knew they had to press as a team and managed to set up Noah (6F) to score on the counter-attack. Gioele (6F) scored an absolute blinder from a free kick in the top right corner. Theo (6S) managed to whizz past St Mark's Defence and just before the ball went out managed to get 2 goals in the back of the net. At half-time, the score was 4-3. After half time St Marks managed to score a further 3 goals which unfortunately meant we lost 6-4!
From now on we need to learn to communicate better in defence. There were some amazing saves by Jordi (6S) in goal. The scoreline could have been a lot worst had Jordi (6S) not saved several shots.
Well done to Ahmed (5F) for playing his first game in the performance team.
Sev (5S), Ishaaq (6F), Will (6H) and Gioele (6F) made some excellent defensive tackles. Tem (5F), Reuben (6S), and Aiden (6F) played some great one-two passes down the line it was just unfortunate they didn’t make it into the back of the net.
Special Thanks to all the players in our performance team …

Pupils at Fielding continue to enjoy reading books for pleasure from the recommended reading lists and completing reading response activities in their pink book to achieve bronze, silver, gold and platinum Reading certificates. The options for these activities can be found in your child's reading record or on their year group noticeboard on the website. Once they are completed, teachers read through them and reward their pupils with certificates during the year group weekly reward assemblies. We look forward to celebrating further reading achievements next week!
Reading daily improves vocabulary and language skills.
Children learn new words as they read. Subconsciously, they absorb information on how to structure sentences and how to use words and other language features effectively in their writing and speaking.
All pupils who attend Fielding are expected to read for 20 minutes at home every day. This may be to a parent, other adult or independently, if able. Teachers will be checking pupils' reading records every day and signing them weekly to ensure that this is happening and will be following up with pupils and parents when it is not.
As well as signing their reading record every day and writing the name of the book and pages they've read, pupils and parents are encouraged to record new words they come across and discuss the meanings of these together. Please see the picture below for clear instructions on how to use the reading record daily.
Today Fielding took a team of 4 boys and 4 girls to a World Cup Football tournament. Fielding were representing France!

The PTFA will be collecting second-hand uniforms alongside teddy bears for two stalls running at the Christmas Fair. Please leave any donations outside the main hall at Wyndham Road entrance between Monday 28 November and Friday 2 December.
On another note, if you or a family member play a musical instrument and are up for performing a couple of songs then we'd love to hear from you! We would love to have as many of you as possible on our busking spot creating the lovely Christmassy feeling through your tunes!
Open to students, teachers and parents!
At previous fairs, Mr McEvoy has done some busking with his guitar outside the main hall as parents sipped mulled wine. More recently we have opened the stage to parents and children that would also like to perform a few songs too.
If you are interested, then why not sign-up for a slot on Saturday 3, December during the Christmas Fair. You'll be contributing to our Christmas atmosphere and you'll be raising money for the PTFA in the process!
