The PTFA is excited to announce that at 3pm on Friday 21st December tickets go on sale for the first event of 2019 - the Fielding Roller Disco.
The Roller Disco is taking place in the main school hall on Sunday 20th January.
Tickets cost £8.50 per child (including 50p booking fee), per session.
Each session will be for one hour and there will be five sessions to choose from. 10am-11am, 11.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-2.30pm, 3pm-4pm and 4.30pm-5.30pm.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your chosen session starts, to check in and to have skates fitted. Skates start from size 8 upwards.
All children must be supervised by an accompanying adult and a choice of delicious refreshments will be available.
Adults do not need to skate unless they want to!
The next PTFA meeting - being held at 9am and 8.30pm on Monday 14 January - gives parents and carers the chance to give their input into finalising where this year's PTFA funding should go and to share ideas/give feedback on past and future fundraising events.
As usual we will hold two meetings in the School House to give as many parents and carers the opportunity to attend.
We've had a really strong first five months, with the Movie Afternoon, Halloween trail, Christmas Fair and Pantomime all great successes. We have exciting plans in place for our next events - Roller Disco and Quiz Night.
Thank you for all of your support, whether it be volunteering at events, or coming along to support them. We are already raising much needed funds for the school, which will benefit all of our children.
Today Fielding hosted this years Year 3 & 4 football tournament on the school field. Twelve teams from 9 different schools attended today, all trying their hardest to leave with the trophy and winners medals around their neck. Teams were drawn into 2 groups of 6 with the top 2 qualifying for the semi finals. During the group stage of the competition Fielding played St. Mark's A, Berrymede A, Edward Betham, Oaklands and Mount Carmel and beat therm all without conceding a single goal to finish top of the group. This meant that they had to play Berrymede B in the semi finals as they finished runners up in the other group. It was tough game in the semi final but we came through it as we won 1-0. This set up a cup final against St. Mark's A who we had already beaten in the group.
To read the full match report of the final, written by one of our Year 6 Sports Captains, get over to the PE page.

Last week all of the children from Year 1 up to Year 6 competed for their Constellations in this half terms Constellation tournament. The sport was of course football and so KS2 children played against each other in 6 a-side matches whereas KS1 children were trying to beat each other in a variety of small sided games based around attacking and defending.
So after a week of competition we knew who this years Constellation football champions were. In 4th place was Hercules with 132 points.
In 3rd place was Cygnus with 139 points.
In 2nd place was Orion with 140 points.
Which meant this years champions were Pegasus with 144 points!

Well done everyone in Pegasus for working so hard to get the win.
We may be filling ourselves with festive cheer and spring has not quite sprung yet, but our Gardening and Cooking session continue after the Christmas break. You will find the timetable for the first part of the spring term attached below. Please note that Year Six completed two sessions during Autumn 2 therefore will continue their Gardening and cooking sessions in Spring 2.
During their sessions, pupils will have a session in the kitchen with their class teacher, and in the garden with our gardener teaching assistant, Ellie Lock. The timetable for this is attached below.
Some important things for you to know:
On their allocated day, pupils should wear appropriate non-uniform clothing for gardening and close-toed shoes (Wellies will be provided at school if needed).
Children's health care plans need to be updated in detail on Laser as teachers will check these carefully for food allergies and intolerances when planning food preparation and will ensure certain ingredients are not used and that procedures are put in place to avoid cross-contamination where needed.
To support the effective planning of the lessons, and to enable us to provide the best possible opportunities for all pupils, in-line with our Charging Policy a voluntary contribution of £4 (payable via Laser) will be requested for each child for each half term. This will ensure teachers can buy ingredients needed to supplement fresh ingredients provided by the school garden. Please remember to add the charge to your cashbook.
Pupils are also be asked to bring to school, on their allocated cooking day, a clearly labelled container. Pupils will then be able to bring home some/all of the food they have prepared at school to share with their families and friends.
This continues to be an amazing opportunity for children. Here's to delicious and nutritious food!
Congratulations to members of Cygnus for working so hard to collect the winning amount of constellation points.
Their prize will be on the afternoon of Tuesday 18th December. from 1.45 until 3.15 pm. The star leaders sought the views of different members of their constellation and we have used these to help plan their treat afternoon. Their treat consists of:
We have decided not to include additional food this time as part of the treat.
Well done Cygnus and enjoy your afternoon out of class.
Fielding's retrospective planning application for the improvements to our Reception playground has been approved by the Council, subject to minor conditions.
The small bridge structure between the two green mounds needs to be lowered to match the height of the top of the mounds. These works will take place during the Spring Term, ideally when the school is closed to pupils.

As part of our current FLCC topic, 'What was life like in Ealing 100 years ago?' pupils in Year 2 visited Gunnersbury Park Museum this week to learn more about how Victorian children celebrated Christmas and what Christmas was like in the Victorian kitchens. Pupils took part in interactive workshops to strengthen their understanding of what life was like back then and thoroughly enjoyed handling typical Victorian toys and ingredients for recipes. A huge thank you to the PTFA for covering the full amount of the cost for this fantastic learning opportunity for the Year 2 children.
