  • No smoking, e-cigarettes or vaping products on site

Thu 29 Feb 2024 Peter Dunmall

No smoking, or use of e-cigarettes or vaping products on the school site please.

Since 2007, smoking has been banned on school grounds. Signs at our 2 main entrance gates remind everyone of the ban.

Our signs now need updating to include use of e-cigarettes or vaping products. We are following Public Health advice to reduce the risk of youth uptake of e-cigarettes or vaping products by banning use on the school grounds.

  • Childcare and clubs fees from April 2024

Thu 29 Feb 2024 Karen Esprit

The Governing Board has made a small increase in the cost of childcare and specialist clubs from 2 April. A further increase will follow from 4 September. The increase is due to additional operating costs, especially the government's last pay award for all support staff.

    From 2 April

    Breakfast Club, £6.85

    Breakfast Club ad-hoc, £10.95

    After-school childcare

    3.30 - 4.30pm, £6.85

    4.30 - 5.30pm, £6.85

    5.30 - 6pm, free of charge

    Ad-hoc session, £18.60

    Holiday club

    8am - 6pm, £43.75

    Ad-hoc session, £49.95

    Specialist clubs

All clubs, 1 hour slots, £6.85

We have kept our fee increases as low as we can, mindful of the current cost of living. We have checked our fees compared to other local schools and remain good value for money, especially when more than one hour of childcare and/or a club is taken in a day. The wide range and flexibility of our wrap around care continues to offer pupils excellent opportunities while giving parents convenience and value for money.

All fees are also available for viewing in the Clubs & Childcare pages of the website. There will be no increase in Breakfast Club fees in September.

  • Year 5 & 6 Girls Football team Primary Stars Qualifier

Thu 29 Feb 2024 Natasha Pasha

In a thrilling display of skill, the Year 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football Team showcased their talent at the Primary Stars Qualifier football tournament. The stakes were high, with the opportunity to represent Brentford Football Club and play in a Premiership stadium dangling  close.

Facing intimidating opponents, the Fielding girls demonstrated their resilience from the outset. Their first match against Trafalgar ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw, with Coco (5P) notching the opening goal of the game. Despite a setback against St Edmunds, who proved to be swift on the ball and secured a 2-0 victory, Fielding Girls bounced back with a resounding 2-0 win over Southville, thanks to goals from both Coco(5P) and Qamara (5S).

Momentum surged as Fielding Girls faced off against Holy Family, where a last-minute equalizer resulted in another 1-1 draw. Undeterred, the girls' triumphed over East Sheen in their final group stage match, clinching a 2-1 victory with goals once again from Coco (5P) and Qamara (5S).

Securing a spot in the semi-finals, Fielding Girls faced a tough rematch against St Edmunds,  who eventually became tournament winners.  Even though we didn't win the the semi-final clash, our journey to the penultimate stage shows a significant achievement, as we finished 4th overall in the tournament.

Adelaide (6S) made some great saves in Goal. Our defense: Daisy (5P), Lois(5P), Miral (5H), Darcy (6P), Flo G (6S) all did their best to get the ball out and support strikers.

This competition served as a valuable challenge for the Year 5 & 6 Girls, who were accustomed to dominating local games with significant margins. The experience we gained will be instrumental in preparing us for the upcoming London Games on 19th March 2024.

Despite narrowly missing out on the opportunity to represent Brentford Football Club, the Year 5 & 6 Girls Performance Football Team can hold their heads high, having displayed commendable skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their fourth-place finish is a testament to their dedication and talent on the field.

    A special thanks to...

    Adelaide (6S), Flo (6S), Miral (5H), Darcy (6P), Qamara (5S), Coco (5P), Lois (5P), Daisy (5P)

  • Is your child safe from online grooming? We'll be talking to children about this in school next week.

Wed 28 Feb 2024 Clare Haines

In class next week, class teachers will be using age-appropriate content to talk to your children about the risks of online grooming.

    • Nursery, Reception and Years 1-4 will be using the 'undressed' resources from the London Grid for Learning
    • Year 5 and 6  teachers will show and discuss ‘Maya’s story’ from IWF videos information: here Lesson plan here

This is the second article in a series about online safety. Last week I wrote to you about the safe use of social media, such as instagram. This week I want to share with you some of the risks of online grooming.

As children continue to find new ways to connect with each other on a range of devices and platforms, it is increasingly important to help them make smarter and safer choices about who they talk to and what they share online, especially with an increase of groomers online. You may be thinking that you don't have to worry about this yet, it only happens to teenagers. While evidence shows that it happens to girls much more than boys, and most often girls aged 11 to 13 years old, some of our youngest children can also be at risk.

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) estimate that there are around 830,000 people in the UK who could pose a sexual threat to children. Children can be tricked into creating 'self-generated online sexual abuse content', this is when sexual predators trick young children into getting changed or undressed on camera by playing a ‘game’ or issuing a ‘challenge’ to see how fast they can get changed into different clothes or into a swimming costume. This might happen over video chat or livestreaming app, children often don't even know this has happened, videos are often taken and then circulated.

  • Nursery - Update to Ziggi Systems, Terms & Conditions and Induction Booklet

Tue 27 Feb 2024 Tracy Cherry

As you are aware we have needed to implement a small fee increase from April to Nursery fees, we are working hard to update Ziggi Systems so that the changes are reflected in your next invoice. I am afraid that your next invoice will see a slight delay due to the changes being made, and we apologise for this.

We have updated the Nursery Terms & Conditions and Nursery Induction Booklet to reflect the fee increase and the up coming changes to Government Funding for working families.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

  • Collecting pupils for appointments during the school day

    Tue 27 Feb 2024 Office

We ask that parents make routine medical appointments outside of the school day or during school holidays where possible. However, we do realise there will be other types of appointments that mean children will have to miss part of the school day.

When this happens, parents must inform the school in advance and show proof of the appointment in the form of a letter, email or text message which clearly shows the date and time.

Parents should arrive in good time to collect their children from school as they will not be called down to the office before you arrive.

  • Year 4 Girls Friendly vs Holy Family

Fri 23 Feb 2024 Natasha Pasha

In a spirited match between the Fielding Year 4 Girls Development Team and Holy Family Girls Team, it was Holy Family who emerged victorious with a convincing 6-1 win. Despite a valiant effort from Fielding's Year 4 Girls team, Holy Family's skill and determination proved too much to handle.

The game started with both teams displaying enthusiasm and energy on the field. However, Holy Family quickly asserted their dominance and showcased their teamwork. They took an early lead, putting Fielding Year 4 Girls under pressure from the start.

Despite facing an uphill battle, Fielding's Year 4 Girls fought bravely, creating chances and showing resilience in defense. However, Holy Family's attacking prowess proved relentless as they continued to find gaps in the defense and capitalize on opportunities.

As the game progressed, Holy Family extended their lead with well-executed goals, showcasing their proficiency in front of the net. Fielding's Year 4 Girls, undeterred by the scoreline, continued to push forward in search of goals.

In the closing moments of the game, with Holy Family leading comfortably, Eden (4S) managed to score one last goal, sealing their victory with a final score of 6-1. Although the Year 4 Girls suffered defeat, they demonstrated admirable sportsmanship and determination throughout the match.

Ultimately, it was a well-deserved win for Holy Family Girls Team, who showcased their skill and teamwork on the field. Despite the loss, Fielding Year 4 Girls can take pride in their effort and determination.

    Special thanks to...

    Anvita (4H), Emily E.B (4H), Rebecca (4H), Aliza (4H), Jessica (4F), Amelina (4P), Araiya (4P), Imogen (4S), Eden (4S), Ava (4S)
