  • French creative home learning

    Tue 19 Dec 2017 S.Mahvelati

It has been such a pleasure to see so many amazing French-themed creative home learning projects coming in over the past few weeks. Here are a few photos from across the school:

    • Year 1 showed how un pommier (apple tree) changes during the four seasons and labelled its colours in French. This linked to their topic 'Where do the leaves go in winter?'

    • Year 2 made 3D models of fruits and labelled these in French. This was linked to their topic on healthy eating.
    • Year 4 designed and made souvenir t-shirts and bags of Paris, linked to their topic on cities.
    • Year 6 made party menus, linked to our current French topic 'Joyeux Anniversaire'.

I really look forward to seeing creative French throughout the year!

  • Fielding celebrate sporting achievements

    Mon 18 Dec 2017

This morning we celebrated all of the sporting achievements that Fielding children have been a part of in this Autumn Term. A Year 5/6 Fielding team has represented the school in Triathlon, Cross Country, Football, Tag Rugby, Netball, Sports Hall Athletics and Gymnastics this term. We have started up the Fielding Sport Partnership this year to give our Year 3 and 4 children and those from local schools the chance to represent their school without having to wait until Year 5 or 6. So far we have organised a Year 3 and 4 tournament for Rugby and Football which has given just under 150 children from 8 different schools the chance to represent their school.

In total we have taken part in 12 competitions so far and have had 103 of our own children out representing the school os  ahuge well done to everyone involved. Have a look at the PE page to read about those events.

All of the children who represented the school this term received their sports patches today and should have hopefully brought them home ready to be ironed on to their right sleeve. Please look after these as lost patches can not be replaced.

We also celebrated the individual success of many of our children through our Fielding Sporting Stars initiative. Well done to each of those children who were recognised this morning for sports from Football to Moto X to Deep sea diving! Check out the PE page to find out how you could be a Fielding Sporting Star next term.

The first wave of Fielding Marathon Finishers were awarded their medals this morning. Lots of our children have been coming to run a mile on Monday mornings before school or during lunch times and have been ticking off the miles 1 at a time in order to complete the challenge. Today we awarded 11 medals! We haven't had any parent or staff finishers yet but I think we have Henry and Charlotte's mum in the lead for the parents and Miss Feeney in the lead for the staff. Have a look at the PE page for the new Fielding Marathon page which will be coming soon.

Finally we found out the result to our latest Constellation tournament...well done to Cygnus for making it 2 wins from 2 as they claimed the football trophy to add to the rugby one already won last half term.

We are already looking forward to another term of fantastic sport at Fielding in the New year. Have a Merry Christmas from the PE team!

  • Nursery Christmas Dinner

    Wed 13 Dec 2017 T McEvoy
The Nursery children had a great time during their Christmas Dinner on Wednesday. They had fun pulling crackers and dancing.
  • Nursery extension weekend works

    Wed 13 Dec 2017

All 5 sections of our Nursery extension will be delivered by lorries and lifted by crane into place on Saturday morning.  Letters have been posted to local residents, asking them to avoid parking in Coombe Road.  There may also be some traffic congestion on surrounding roads, especially Northcroft Avenue, while the delivery takes place.

Ground works to prepare the base for the modular building and to install new rain and waste water drains were completed two weeks ago.

A safety partition will be installed before the end of this week at the end of the existing Nursery building to enable the end windows and wall to be removed, giving access to the new extension.

Over the next few weeks and early in the new term, the interior of the new building will be finished.

Nursery children are set to move into their new extension early in February.  Additional space has been created by remodelling our key-stage 1 library to allow our new Nursery joiners to start in January.
