  • PE during Winter

    Tue 12 Dec 2017
We have received a number of letters from parents in recent weeks stating that their children can not take part in PE as they are recovering from a cold. If children are recovering from serious injury or illness then exceptions or adaptations will be made. However, please remember that PE is a statutory part of the National Curriculum and as such when in school children can not be withdrawn.
  • Fielding host second Year 3 and 4 tournament of the year

    Tue 12 Dec 2017

Last Friday Fielding organised and hosted a Year 3 and 4 football tournament which was attended by 11 teams from 8 schools! We have decided to organise a different tournament every half term this year to give our younger children the chance to experience competitive sport in an environment where they get to feel proud for representing their school. We had over 100 children at the tournament on Friday so were very pleased that we could offer this opportunity to so many children from other local schools too.

The afternoon was extremely cold but the children were superb and demonstrated a fantastic attitude all afternoon. The final was contested by St. Mark's and Edward Betham in what turned out to be a great game. St. Mark's were crowned champions after winning 2-0 to earn themselves a trophy to bring back to school.

Thank you to all of the schools who came to take part - your children really appreciated the opportunity. Thank you to QPR who provided us with 3 coaches to help referee games. Thank you to our own Year 6 Sports Captains who helped run the afternoon. Thank you to the parents for coming to support on a freezing afternoon. And finally thank you and well down to all of the children for competing so well and with demonstrating some excellent sporting values.

Check out the PE page for some more photos of the day.

  • New signs for yellow zig-zag lines

    Mon 11 Dec 2017

Striking new signs remind all drivers that stopping vehicles on yellow zig-zag lines endangers the lives of children.

Parking on zig-zag lines at school drop off and collection time is illegal and often results in a fixed penalty notice.  Parking enforcement officers from the Council regularly patrol outside of our entrance gates at our request.

For all other times, our new signs provide a highly visual reminder and barrier to stopping on the lines outside of our school.

  • Reception trip to Kingsdown Methodist church - 11.12.17

Sun 10 Dec 2017 Reception Team

The reception trip to Kingsdown Methodist Chruch on Monday 11th December is still scheduled to happen.  The weather suggests the chance of sleet and snow throughout the day so please make sure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately (coat, wellington boots (if they have any), woollen hats.  You may also wish to pack a spare pair of dry clothes in their bags so they can change on the return to school if needed.

  • Subject: Survey: What events would you like to see the PTFA run?

    Thu 07 Dec 2017

Thanks to all the parents/carers who have supported PTFA events so far this year. With your fantastic support, we have been able to raise over £35,000 in the last academic year alone. This money contributes greatly to the school to provide additional services that benefit our children’s education and development.

In order to ensure that we can continue to maintain or improve on our fundraising, we’d like to hear what events you and your families/friends would be interested in participating. You can rate our ideas via this short survey found here. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FieldingNewsletter

The list of ideas was generated by a group of parents interested in driving further improvements, but you can also add your own in.

Thank you again for your support for all of our successful events this year - the Magic Show, Movie Afternoon, Christmas Fair, Christmas Card and Lego Figures – and those yet to come. Thank you also for your understanding when some activities, like the Christmas Cards, add pressure to volunteers to sort out.

We’ll share the results of the survey in further newsletters.
