  • PEAL Shield Boys Year 5 & 6 Football team Semi Final Knockout

Fri 26 May 2023 Natasha Pasha

Today the Year 5 & 6 Boys' football team were due to play St Marks. It was a very intense first half where both teams were playing defensively. Jordi (6S) made some remarkable saves and was diving everywhere to secure a goalless first half. Due to the pressure, it was 0-0 in the first half.

Going into the second half St Mark's pressed in attack and managed to score a cheeky deflection off the post. The momentum was high, and they continued to put our defence under pressure causing an injury to Oscar (5P). The boys in defence tried their best: Sev (5S), Ishaaq (6F), Gioele (6F) and Oscar. Unfortunately, they managed to score a further 3 goals from corner kicks. Therefore, results in a 4-0 lost. In attack Tem (5F), Theo (6S), Ahmed (5F), Aiden (6F), Reuben (6S) all tried to score but St Marks goalkeeper made some excellent saves.

It is unfortunate that the boys lost but they can hold their head up high that they made into the semi-finals in the first place.

    Well done to...

    Reuben (6S), Theo (6S), Jordi (6S), Tem (5F), Ahmed (5F), Aiden (6F) Gioele (6F), Sev (5S), Ishaaq (6F), Oscar (5P)

  • The final KS2 TTRS BoB of the year!

Wed 24 May 2023 Reena Patel

Fielding pupils, we've reached the final half term break which means it's the last Battle of the Bands for the year!

The final battle will begin on Friday 26th May at 4pm and will end on Sunday 4th June at 8pm.

Two battles will take place during these dates and times:

    • Lower KS2 (Years 3 & 4)
    • Upper KS2 (Years 5 & 6)

    Important Notice:

Maths Circle has reported that some pupils are using out of date versions of TT Rock Stars so please take this time to update the app and use the latest version of it and website to ensure pupils receive the most secure, feature-rich and enjoyable experience of TT Rock Stars. Some versions are so far behind that you are missing out on key updates which have taken place.

    Solution:

If using the website at home, please can parent(s) / carer(s) visit play.ttrockstars.com/reset to load the latest version in their device's browser. Otherwise update the Times Tables Rock Stars app from the app store.

Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) continues to be the greatest phenomenon of learning times tables at Fielding as it is fun and challenging for all of our pupils. Through its carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice, it ensures no child is left behind in practice and for those that are confident, over-practice is ensured to increase higher levels of automaticity.

    How to play:

Pupils can login via their personalised username and passwords. If they are unsure of this, they can check with their class teacher.

Click here to access the site.

    How to earn points:

Every correct answer in any game type is worth 1 point towards the class team. Pupils can play in Garage, Rock Slam, Soundcheck, etc and earn 1 point per correct answer.

Pupils should not confuse Battle points with coins! Coins are separate. They will still earn 10 coins per correct answer in the Garage, 5 per correct Soundcheck and 1 coin per correct answer everywhere else.

    Prizes

The winning class will be announced on Tuesday 6th April and will be rewarded:

    • The TTRS Trophy to keep until the end of term
    • An inflatable guitar to keep until the of term
    • TTRS Certificate

From the winning class, the pupil who scores the most points for their class team will win:

    • TTRS Keyring
    • TTRS Pencil
    • TTRS Certificate

TTRS promotes the "little and often" technique which is why pupils only need to play between 3-10 minutes a day as part of their daily practice and whilst doing this over the half-term they will be earning those points for their class band! To promote this further, a daily minutes restriction has been set to 30 minutes to stop children from excessive screen-time during the half-term.

We look forward to see how this Battle of the Bands 'rocks' out and I look forward to announcing the next winners.

Have a wonderful half term break!

  • PTFA: Fielding parent wins PTA National Volunteer of the Year

    Wed 24 May 2023 PTFA

Nolan O'Connor, Fielding parent and former PTFA chair (2017-2022), has been awarded the England 'Volunteer of the Year' in the ParentKind PTA Awards. The ParentKind awards formed part of a National PTA Week which ran 15-19 May.

Nolan was one of six, shortlisted volunteers and many Fielding parents and staff got involved in the public vote to support Nolan and secure his win.

Nolan's support for the school is unwavering since joining in 2017. Over the years, there never seems to have been anything too big or too small for him to get involved in. During his tenure as chair, he also created and led the delivery of several fun and innovative events, activities and ways of engaging both children and adults, and raised our PTFA over £350,000. These funds have helped to create the Kitchen Garden, Second Hand Uniform shed, initial library refurbishment and much more.

In everything he’s done, Nolan's also helped to foster an amazing community at our school and the local area, which we all benefit from.

Thankfully Nolan still plays an active role within the PTFA and we feel incredibly lucky to have him.

  • 1st Place for Year 5 & 6 Boys Cricket team

Fri 19 May 2023 Natasha Pasha

Today Years 5 & 6 Boys' team participated in a Cricket Tournament with 6 local schools. Little Ealing, Acton Gardens, Oaklands, Lady Margaret, St Marks and West Acton.

For this competition, every school started off with 200 runs.

If the opposing team take a wicket 5 runs they will be deducted from the total score.

Our first game was against Oaklands and the boys were nervous as the previous game was a very close score. They did not know what to expect. We started off well taking a few early wickets which made it very difficult for Oaklands to chase. Final score Oaklands 227 and Fielding 291. Some excellent batting from Noah (6F) who scored 47 runs.

Our second game was against Acton Gardens who had an excellent fielding side. They also took some early wickets, but the boys remained confident and managed to hit quite a few sixes and fours to make up for the early wickets taken. There was a great batting partnership between the brother duo Ishaaq (6F) and Yaqoob (5S) who increased the run rate. At the end of the game, the final score was Acton Gardens 237 and Fielding 277.

As a result of scoring a total of 568 runs across two games, we finished top of our group and were given a by straight into the semi-final.

In the Semi-final, we played Lady Margaret School who had an excellent fielding team and they managed to run out a few players. However, the boys' kept their cool and had an excellent batting inning and managed to get quite a few early wickets. Well done to Zaki (6F) who took 4 wickets in one over. This reduced Lady Margaret's run rate drastically. The final score was Lady Margaret 227 and Fielding 264 runs, therefore, won the game.

Tensions were high as we were due to play our local rival Little Ealing in the final. Both teams were equally matched in terms of ability. It was any team for the taking. I am happy to announce that Fielding won by 2 runs thanks to Noah (6F) who hit a four on the last ball.

As a result, we are through to the borough finals to play the other top team in Ealing. The winner of this game will be selected to represent Ealing at the London Games.

Congratulations to the Boys for coming 1st Place!

    A special thanks to...

    Zaki (6F), Aiden (6F), Ishaaq (6F), Noah (6F),  Leo W (6P), Arthur W (6S), Ansh (5S), Yaqoob (5S), Stanely (5P), Dylan (5P),
