    Thu 31 Jan 2019 Maria Neil-Smith

    Congratulations to the members of Fielding Choir for your fantastic performance at the O2 on Monday night! Well done for all your hard work and dedication over the last few months in preparation for this magical event. Thank you to all our amazing adult helpers who made it possible. It was a great day and lots of fun was had by all! Click here to see a postcard collage of the day.

  • Girls football training cancelled tomorrow

    Wed 30 Jan 2019
    Girls football will be cancelled tomorrow morning due to predicted below freezing temperature in the morning. This will make the field and the back playground unsafe to use and so unfortunately there will be no training this week. Hopefully we will be back to normal next week.
  • School Access and blocking of school gates

    Mon 28 Jan 2019

    It has been brought to our attention that on occasions the large school gates on Wyndham Road and Coombe Road have been blocked by parents/carers parking in front of or across these driveways. This is happening during nursery drop off and after school clubs. Please ensure that these areas are kept clear at all times as these gates are used by emergency vehicles. Please note that if you park in these areas, Ealing Council will issue a parking ticket.

  • Playtime arrangements

    Mon 28 Jan 2019
    It has been decided that the school field will no longer be used at play times and lunchtimes until further notice. This decision has been made because the children using the field are coming back to class covered in more than an acceptable amount of mud.  As a school we trialed the pupils bringing in a spare pair of shoes but we feel the field is too muddy at present.  QPR sport sessions will continue at lunchtimes for the children and will be relocated to zones around the playground.  We look forward to reopening the field in the warmer weather.
  • Your views needed, annual parent survey

    Mon 28 Jan 2019

    What are our strengths?  Where might we need to improve?

    Each year we conduct an annual survey to find out parents' views. Your views are important to us.  We add your views to our own evaluation enabling us to identify our strengths and areas for improvement.   We would appreciate it if you could take the time to complete the survey by following this link:

    Anonymous responses are possible.  However, whatever your views, it helps us to know who you are so that we can better understand and/or follow-up on any concerns raised.

    Last year we received only 228 responses from families, representing 434 pupils, this was much lower than in previous years.  We would like an even stronger response this year. You told us that the things you most like about Fielding are:

    • Teaching and learning including the ‘commitment’ from our ‘professional caring’ teachers and the ‘the passion for providing children the best possible education’ (113 comments);
    • Outdoor space and environment, including the forest, field and all of our facilities (36 comments);
    • The community spirit of the school, including a ‘small school feel’ but all the opportunities and benefits of size (35 comments).
    • Values-based education, including the care and compassion that all adults show to children, our welcoming, friendly ethos (33 comments);
    • Opportunities for sport, music, teams, variety of clubs and specialist teaching (24 comments);

    Parents would most like to change or improve:

    • Communication, wanting more proactive, transparent communication regarding key decisions (41 comments);
    • Clubs, including availability and booking arrangements (23 comments);
    • Implementation of the behaviour policy including stronger sanctions for repeated poor behaviour, playground supervision (15 comments);

    Following your feedback we have:

    • Continued to increase the number of Specialist Clubs and spaces available for each year group, split the booking on Laser for each key-stage and upgrading servers and storage so that the system runs at a quicker rate.
    • We have further restructured our lunchtime supervision, moving away from traditional 'lunchtime supervisors' to playworkers who are known to the children,
    • We have continued to improve the facilities for children during play and and lunch times, including play equipment, zoned areas and improvements in the lunch halls. This term we will be recruiting a 'Leader of Play' who will oversee all play provision and opportunites for pupils.
    • We have worked with staff around consistency of implementing our behaviour policy and will continue to review this through out this term with any changes to be implemented during the Summer term.

    The survey will close on Friday 1st February at 9am.

  • February Half-Term Holiday Club

    Mon 21 Jan 2019

    February half-term week is just around the corner, the childcare team are ready to welcome your children and have prepared an action packed week full of playful opportunities and new experiences. Highlights include trip to the Water and Steam Museum, where children can let off some steam by taking part in an interactive and exciting workshop ‘Victorian wash day’ run by the experienced museum staff. Then its all aboard the famous Thomas Wicksteed locomotive for a ride driven by steam. Children will also explore the fantastic Splash Zone, they will be amazed to discover unexpected ways of moving water by using gears, wheels, buckets, pipes, pumps and more. On Tuesday children may also enjoy a visit to Walpole Park adventure playground, there they are free to engage in spontaneous free play, using the equipment and rich natural resources to enhance their play experience. There are many other activities to keep the children engaged during the week, including a street dance workshop by the Avenue Dance Company, cooking scrumptious samosas and fruity Florentine's and of course plenty of art and craft activities.

    Let us put the fun into half-term, come and join us for a play date!

  • PE in the cold weather

    Fri 18 Jan 2019

    Over the next few weeks it is possible that the weather will be getting cold and as such we would like to remind you to make sure your children are properly dressed for it. Obviously if the weather conditions make it unsafe we will be inside for PE but where possible we will try to continue with PE as normal.

    Please wear an extra layer under your PE kit if you feel the cold.

    Remember gloves - you need your hands for Netball.

    Wear a hat.

    Scarves will not be allowed as a health and safety measure.

    If we are outside in very cold conditions children will be allowed to wear coats, although in normal circumstances this is not allowed.

  • Lost property

    Fri 18 Jan 2019 Office
    We are receiving a high number of enquiries regarding lost property, particularly unlabelled items. Given the size of the school, staff are unable to devote any time to searching for lost property and we would ask you to aid your child's growing independence by encouraging them to take responsibility for their belongings and to search thoroughly for mislaid items. Please ensure that everything that comes into school is clearly labelled with your child's full name, including shoes. Lost property bins are located by years 1 & 3. There is no lost property at the school office. Any items not claimed by the end of term will be recycled.
