  • Cooking sessions - Policy review and changes

    Tue 30 Apr 2019 J Peterson

We are very proud to provide an amazing opportunity for our pupils to attend cooking sessions, often using their very own home grown ingredients from our wonderful kitchen garden!

The sessions have now been in place for two full terms which has given us the opportunity to review our policy and consider feedback. Currently, an annual voluntary contribution of £24.00 is requested via a £4.00 half termly fee to cover the cost of these sessions, however we are pleased to now reduce this contribution to £12.00 from September 2019. As a result of this review, our policy has now been updated to reflect the following changes:

    • No half term collection of fees. Instead, an annual fee of £12.00 will be added to your cashbook in September 2019.
    • This contribution is still voluntary and can be removed from your cashbook upon request.
    • The £8.00 fee due for the remainder of the school year and scheduled to be collected via two £4.00 instalments will be waived and will not be added to your cashbook.

Should you require any further information, please contact Jane at finance@fielding.ealing.sch.uk

  • Sport Recap - 1st week back

    Tue 30 Apr 2019

We had a very busy but very successful first week back in school after the Easter holiday with our sports teams at Fielding. On Thursday last week the Year 3 and 4 tennis teams were at Will to Win, Lammas Park to compete against other schools in this years Featherstone competition. Our B team finished 2nd in their competition and the A team finished 1st! Brilliant tennis from our younger tennis players and a another Borough finals to look forward to for the A team now.

On Friday the Girls Football team played in the RSK Cup Final against Oaklands. The competition started in September and so the girls have done lots of work to get to this stage. They were awesome in the final and after 40 minutes of football the score finished 9-1 to Fielding! This means that Fielding become the first school to retain the RSK Cup for 2 years in a row.

Also on Friday, the Boys Football team played in the Peal Shield Final. This competition runs with the same format as the RSK Cup so again the team has been working hard all year to get to this point. The boys game against Mount Carmel was a much closer affair and ended 2-2 after extra time which meant penalties were needed to decide the outcome. The boys held their nerve to win and reclaim the Peal Shield that Fielding last won 3 years ago.

Finally, yesterday the Year 4 Mixed Rugby Team played in a game against St. Mark's. Even after months without playing together as a school team they ended up winning a very close game 13-12.

Well done to all of our sportsmen and women who have already represented the school this term.

  • September 2019 - Change of fees

    Mon 29 Apr 2019

On the 4th September, there will be a small increase in the cost for childcare and specialist clubs. This increase is due to additional staffing costs, including a 2% salary increase for support staff from April which has not been funded by the government. Details of the increase are in the tables below.

Fielding Childcare and Specialist clubs remain competitively priced. The extensive range and flexibility of wrap around care is a key strength for Fielding; providing unique, excellent quality of opportunity and value for money.

  • Summer in the Kitchen Garden - pots, plants and volunteers

Mon 29 Apr 2019 Ellie Lock

Yippee - it's summer term! Does anyone fancy a bit of volunteering? We'd love to have you - whether you'd like to join a gardening lesson or come on a non-teaching day to water plants and listen to the birds sing.

You don't need to commit to a regular session - half an hour now and again would make a huge difference. Drop in at the garden any morning, or email Ellie at elock4.307@lgflmail.org.

Fellow gardeners, if you have spare pots and trays - or even spare fruit and veg plants - we'd absolutely love them.

Thank you in advance - and happy gardening!

  • Clubs and Childcare – Refunds for Residential Trips

    Mon 29 Apr 2019

We understand it is not possible to be in two places at once and it’s unfair to be charged twice, so if your child is taking part in one of the amazing residential trips planned this year a refund of club and or childcare fees will be added to the children’s cashbook. The refund will apply for the time your child spends away with the school.

    Childcare and Specialist Clubs Fees

Please be reminded Summer Term childcare and specialist club fees are now due.

There are two ways to pay for childcare, in full or 50% now and the remainder by Friday 31st May 2019.

Specialist clubs must be paid for in full at the point of booking unless using childcare vouchers. Non-payment of specialist clubs or childcare may result in your child's name being taken off the register, but you will still be required to settle the fee.

Childcare bookings roll over from term to term unless cancelled, please log into Laser to ensure your child’s cashbook is in order. If you notice duplicate bookings or are experiencing difficulties paying, contact the Childcare Manager as soon as possible to discuss options. childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk

Remember, childcare and Specialist clubs often work in partnership, if you have booked a specialist club and need and additional hour please make sure you have also booked the after school club to complement your booking.

  • Summer Squad Selection session - Boys Football (Tues 30th Apr), Girls Football (Thurs 2nd May)

    Mon 29 Apr 2019

Tomorrow (Tuesday 30th April) is the Summer terms Boys football Squad Selection session. This an open training session where boys from Year 4, 5 and 6 can attend training for a one off session on the school field to try to get into the boys football squad. If you are currently in the squad you still need to attend in order to be considered for the squad for the summer term.

You do not need to register an interest to attend, just meet Mr Thomas and Mr Winn in the sports hall at 7.45am wearing sports kit with boots/astros. The session will likely consist of children being split into teams and involve lots of match play. At 8.45am, children will go to class to get changed for the rest of the day.

On Thursday 2nd May the Summer Term Girls football Squad Selection session will be held on the field. This will be exactly the same format for Year 4, 5 and 6 girls but will run on Thursday.

If you have any questions please ask Mr Thomas or Mr Winn

  • Keeping children safe online - online grooming, the risks

Fri 26 Apr 2019 Clare Haines

As children continue to find new ways to connect with each other on a range of devices and platforms it is increasingly important to help them make smarter and safer choices about who they talk to and what they share online.

Watch one girls powerful story of how she was groomed online.

Things you can do to keep your child safe online:

    • check your parental controls on your/their PC/laptop/device to stop then accessing inappropriate material;
    • know what your child is doing on their device, ask for their passwords
    • watch what they are doing online, ask them to use their devices in a family area rather than their room
    • accessing games on a console or tablet? Here's how to set parental controls: Ask About Games
    • have a conversation, discuss sites and apps together, talk about any concerns they may have;
    • talk about personal information and what not to share online;
    • is your child accessing social networks? Most of these have an age limit of 13+, check the content and age limits of what they are accessing here: NetAware
    • Is your child playing computer games, check the age limit here: Netaware

  • And they’re off collecting- our new constellation and values token system has started!

    Thu 25 Apr 2019 Miss L Stabler

New behaviour token collecting has started!

The start of the summer term has marked the start of our brand new behaviour token system where the children are rewarded for making good choices and staying on green each day by being given a blue Values star token. These tokens have been made for us from potato starch and are bio-degradable. Additional tokens can be handed to the children from adults across the school for displaying school values, especially our new core values of Respect, Resilience, Empathy and Reflection. All of the children seem very excited about this new system already as they can physically see how the stars for their class are being built up and as a result, are working together and supporting each other to try and achieve more tokens. These tokens are being recorded as stars on children’s individual collection charts which will go towards earning Values certificates and the constellation with the highest amount of stars will earn the constellation treat at the end of Summer term. We are all very excited to see how the children will respond to this new system.

Please see the Behaviour area of our website for more details about this new system and other changes we have made to our Behaviour policy.

For more details about the changes to our Values-based Education and the introduction of our new core values please see the Values area of our website.

  • Roll Up, Roll Up - Tickets for Happy's Circus on sale this Monday!

    Thu 25 Apr 2019

By popular demand Happy's Circus is returning to Fielding Primary School, following a sell out performance in 2017. As many families were unable to get tickets last time, we have arranged 2 dates for Fielding families this summer. The feedback from children and parents in 2017 was fantastic and it was also one of the biggest fundraisers for the year, so we hope it will be a huge success again in 2019.

The 'big top' will be erected on the school field, with an afternoon performance on Sunday 14th July  (ideal for families with younger children) and an early evening performance on Monday 15th July.

Ticket's are priced at £10 person (under 2's, sitting on parents laps, do not require a ticket).

Sales will open on Monday 29th April at 8pm, via the ticket tailor link  https://www.tickettailor.com/events/fieldingptfa/254456

We expect these tickets to be very popular, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
