  • What do pupils think about our updated approach to managing behaviour?

Mon 23 Oct 2023 Clare Haines

On Monday 16 October we held a parliament assembly with all pupils from Years 1 - 6. Parliament assemblies are a chance for pupils to work together in small mixed-aged groups, all focused on one thing. They are an important way of getting the view of pupils. The theme for Monday's assembly was a review of our updated approach to  'Behaviour and Expectations'. If you missed reading about the changes we have made, find out more about here.

So what did the pupils tell us?

Pupils were overwhelmingly positive about the changes, over 80% of the pupils said they knew and understood how the changes worked.  Pupils particularly liked the removal of the traffic lights system, saying this has resulted in, 'Less embarrassment, less pressure, less naming and shaming. A less stressful, fairer, calmer system.'

Pupils like the Zones of Regulation and the opportunities they get to self-regulate.The also liked the way tokens are linked to certificates.

    Next steps

Pupils told us that some groups of adults do not always follow the system and this leads to inconsistencies. Leaders will look into this and provide more training and guidance to those adults.

Some pupils also said that there are children in their class (very small in number) for who sanctions don't appear to work. Leaders will work with the teachers of those pupils to ensure our procedures are being carried out correctly, to deter repeat poor behaviour, this includes talking to parents.

  • 2nd Place for Year 4 Girls Football team!!!

Thu 19 Oct 2023 Natasha Pasha

Today the Year 4 Girls Performance and Development team attended the Featherstone Girls Football tournament.

The Performance and Development teams were in different groups. The performance team had three teams in their group. The development team had four teams in their group.

    The results were as follows:

PERFORMANCE TEAM -  2nd Place Overall!!!

    Fielding vs Selbourne B

    0 - 0

    Fielding vs St Marks A

    3 - 0 (Scored by x 2 Bea - 4H, Jessica - 4H)

    Fielding vs Three Bridges

    1 - 0  (Scored by Bea - 4H)

These results meant we were top of our group and made it through to the quarter-finals against Little Ealing. This match was intense and ended in a goalless draw. The referee added extra time and still no goal was scored. Therefore, we went into a penalty shootout. A special thank you to Hannah (4H) who saved a great penalty. Now we made it into the semi-finals and were up against the team we drew against in our first game Selbourne B. This was a neck-and-neck game until the last minute from a corner Bea (4H) managed to score a cheeky goal.  This was it, we made it into the finals! We were up against Allenby Primary and unfortunately due to a miscommunication in defence, a goal was accidentally scored.

DEVELOPMENT TEAM - 10TH PLACE OUT OF 19 SCHOOLS

    Fielding vs Little Ealing

    0 - 1

    Fielding vs St Marks B

    0 - 1

    Fielding vs Selborne A

    0 - 0

    Fielding vs Oaklands

    0 - 0

The development team truly showed resilience, despite not winning any of their games. There were quite a few head-to-heads in their group. They were delighted to have the opportunity to represent the school.

I am delighted to announce that based on the results above Fielding Performance team came 2nd place overall which means they go through to the borough finals at the end of November/early December.
