  • Year 2 Christingle Celebration

    Fri 14 Dec 2018 P. Whaley
Last Friday, pupils in Year 2 took part in the special Christian celebration of Christingle at St.Paul's Church. This deepened their understanding of their current R.E topic, 'How do Christians celebrate Christmas?'  The congregation heard readings from the Holy story and carols such as, 'Little Donkey,' 'It was on a starry night,' 'Away in a Manger and 'Calypso Carol.' The celebration ended with the procession of all Year 2 pupils with their home-made Christingles lit and their beautiful rendition of, 'Like a candle flame.'  A special thanks to Miss Neil-Smith for all the musical preparation and Bri L'Ostis for hosting and welcoming us all to the church.
  • Top performing school

Fri 14 Dec 2018 Peter Dunmall

    Outstanding results last year

More Year 6 pupils left Fielding ‘secondary ready’ than previous years. The proportion of Year 6 pupils last year who met the government’s expected standard or above in reading, writing and maths combined placed Fielding firmly in the top 10% of Ealing’s 62 schools.  81% of our Year 6 pupils at the end of last year met the standard, up from 66% the previous year, and 17 percentage points above national.  Moreover, 23% met the higher standard, the highest in Ealing and 13 percentage points above national.

    Progress

Our Year 6 pupils also made excellent progress, resulting in Fielding being in the top 25% of Ealing’s schools for progress in reading and writing.  Compared to neighbouring schools, Fielding’s pupils compared very favourably with other local schools for progress.

    Year 2

At the end of Year 2, Fielding was the top performing Ealing school for reading, writing and maths assessments combined.

    Year 1

For Year 1, our 100% success rate in the Phonics screening test placed Fielding’s pupils 1st in Ealing.  The ability to match letters to sounds successfully by the end of Year 1 is an important learning milestone.

  • Chickens at Christmas

Fri 14 Dec 2018 Ellie Lock
The volunteer list for looking after the chickens at Christmas goes up at the garden gate today. There are two-day slots for feeding them during the holiday - and you get to keep the eggs. The Garden Fairy will pop in and clean them, but you're very welcome to get stuck in if you like! More Kitchen Garden news here.
  • Family/Home updated contact details

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

Have your contact details changed and you have not yet informed the school office? Are your emergency contact details still the same? Each family should have three additional emergency contacts which are not that of the parent/carer of the pupil. The emergency details should be people who are able to get to the school in case of an emergency when the school is unable to reach the parent/carers.

If you have recently moved to the area, please let the school know as soon as possible your emergency contacts. If any of your details have changed, please complete the form and return this to the school office.

    Parent Quote:

Absolutely loved it – have raved to other parents about it. Has made me more conscious of everyone’s behaviours, and how to handle them better. As a result, my child’s behaviour, on reflection, is definitely improved and/or when it isn’t, I am much better equipped to cope and deal with it in a positive way.”

  • Fielding come 3rd in Sports Hall Athletics

    Wed 12 Dec 2018
Today Fielding took a team of 12 indoor athletes to Featherstone High School for this years Sports Hall Athletics competition. There were 12 schools competing today across various events. Speed bounce and vertical jumps were among the favourites for the field events. Obstacle race and the Up and Under race were up there for the track events. Each of our children competed in at least 1 track and 1 field event to try to score points for Fielding against other schools. At the end of the day, we were very pleased to learn that we had finished in 3rd place and won bronze medals! A great result for the school and one which they should all be very proud of. Well done the SHA team!

  • Fielding enter first Boccia competition

    Fri 07 Dec 2018

Today, we took 2 teams to this years Featherstone Boccia competition at Villiers High School. This was the first time that Fielding had entered the competition and both teams were very excited to be there. We didn't manage to win the competition but both teams played some great Boccia and did themselves proud.

For those of you unfamiliar with the sport it is similar to boules with 2 teams each playing with different colour balls. Teams alternate throwing or rolling their ball to try to get it closest to the white ball, known as the jack. After all balls have been thrown, the closet balls score points. This is one end. Today's games were made up of 2 ends.

Check out the PE page for the full report.
