  • Christmas in the Kitchen Garden

Wed 05 Dec 2018 Ellie Lock
The children are bringing Christmas decorations to gardening lessons to create a couple of Kitchen Garden Christmas trees. If your child isn't having a lesson before the end of term, they are very welcome to come to the garden before school or in their lunchbreak and help brighten things up with some tinsel or baubles. And look for a sign-up sheet in the coming weeks - we'll be asking for volunteers to look after the chickens over Christmas. More garden news here.
  • Specialist Club Spring Term Launch

    Tue 04 Dec 2018

The details of spring term specialist clubs are available on the school website for viewing only. Please take time to look through our attractive brochure, it really brings home the amazing offer and variety of clubs, providing a one stop shop when reviewing and booking.

The spring term programme welcomes the return of London Scottish Rugby, QPR Football, The London Lens Photography, plus two new clubs, Grade 2 Ballet and Musical Theatre. QPR football will return with half the usual capacity, however this will increase to the full quota after February half term inviting all children on the waiting list to join.

We do our very best to keep clubs running on the same day and time, however sometimes it is necessary to make changes due to the availability of space and provider. Note changes for Spring term, Art club and Drama swap days, this has enabled Zoe our fantastic drama teacher to return to Fielding. Sadly Friday morning QPR Yoga is no longer part of the programme due low uptake.

When viewing the programme please note some of the clubs may start slightly later in the term, this is due to provider availability and the changing season. Please do take time to discuss options’ and interests with your children before booking as once bookings are complete it is not possible to cancel, swap or refund. Remember to give notice for childcare sessions that are no longer needed, otherwise childcare bookings automatically roll over to the following term.

Payments for specialist club are due at the point of booking, if paying by vouchers please notify clubs@fielding.ealing.sch.uk immediately to secure your child’s place.

Bookings open on the following dates and times:

    KS1 Launch Monday 10th December – 8.00pm

    KS2 Launch Wednesday 12th December – 8.00pm

In preparation for booking next terms clubs, please take this opportunity to check and make sure your child’s clubs cashbooks are clear of any outstanding balance.

  • Fielding Christmas Fair a Festive Success

    Tue 04 Dec 2018

The PTFA would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to Saturday’s Christmas Fair.

We can quite simply say it was a huge success. More people came along than last year and most stalls made more money. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Specific highlights include:

l Over 800 adults came along

l Year 6 stalls took 30% more revenue than last year

l 300 glasses of mulled wine sold our super quick and the team had to run out to get more

l All mistletoe sold out at the Christmas tree stall

l The slime stall was so popular, all slime had sold out within one hour of the stall opening

l Santa and his helper gave away 240 Christmas presents in Santa’s grotto

l 300 alcohol bottles and 250 non-alcohol/boxes of chocolates were won at the bottle tombola

l We saved hundreds of cups going to landfill by using our new recyclable cups

l The craft stall used left over wool and used Christmas cards to make new cards

l The busking stage received raptures reviews

We’d also like to say a special thank you to all of our sponsors (listed at the bottom of this message), the planning team - who spent many, many hours organising the event - and to all parent/carer and children volunteers. The Christmas Fair was a success thanks to the involvement of every class throughout the school.

Now we look forward to our next event, the Christmas Pantomime “Sleeping Beauty” taking place on Sunday 16 December. Tickets have already sold out. It promises to be a fantastic event for the whole family.

Thanks to our Christmas Fair Sponsors: Robertson Smith & Kempson, SMA, Hunters, Build & Refurb, Artisan, More Space.

  • Fielding Walk entrance gate opens

    Mon 03 Dec 2018

New pedestrian entrance from south of school

Pupils and parents benefit from a new entrance gate from Fielding Walk to the school site from today.

The entrance will be open at main morning drop-off and afternoon collection times.  Originally targeted for families who live to the south of the school site, reflecting an increase in admissions from these families following the Council's removal of school catchment areas, all parents and pupils are welcome to use the new entrance on their journey to and from school.

Parents and pupils are reminded to enjoy and respect the small park known as Fielding Walk, reflecting concerns of some residents about the potential increased use of the footpath.

  • Dear Santa.... recommended reading books

    Mon 03 Dec 2018

Could you gift a reading book to the school library?

    Dear Santa,

Our children have been so good this year, some have already  achieved their Gold Reading Award for reading 15 books from our Recommended Reading lists. As the lists are becoming so popular in some of our year groups we have now introduced our Platinum Reading Award for reading 25 books from the lists.

For Christmas this year we would really love some more books from our lists for our libraries so that more children can enjoy them.

If you are browsing Amazon for your Christmas shopping, why don't you pop one of the books from the list into your basket? Any books gifted to school will be sorted by Santa's dedicated elf, Mrs Hodge.

    Thank you!

Our recommended reading lists contain 40 age-appropriate books for children in each year group. We have taken the time to carefully choose books that will hopefully capture your children's imagination. The lists contain colour-bands and a description of the books so that the children are able to 'cherry-pick' their favourites according to their book-band level and their personal interests.Have a look at the lists here:
