  • Busking at Xmas Fair

    Fri 23 Nov 2018

Fancy doing 15mins of 'Busking' at Fielding Xmas Fair on Saturday 1 December?

If you or a family members play a musical instrument and are up for performing a couple of songs then we'd love to hear you!

At the last Fielding Christmas Fair, Mr McEvoy did some busking with his guitar outside the main hall as parents sipped mulled wine. This year we'd love it if there are parents or children that would also like to perform a few songs too.

If you are interested, then why not sign-up for a slot on Saturday 1 December during the Christmas Fair. You'll be raising money for the PTFA in the process!

  • Snowman Parade comes to Fielding

    Fri 23 Nov 2018

Following the success of the Scarecrow Parade at the Summer Fair, we are hoping pupils will be keen to turn their creative skills to building a snowman to showcase at the Xmas Fair next week.

The PTFA are looking to decorate the Wyndham Road entrance with as many snowmen as possible. So if you have any empty boxes laying around and some white plastic bags then why not join in! You may have already seen a few pop up already - and hopefully they will survive the rain!

There are no rules to the design, however the snowmen already in situ consist of three cardboard boxes wrapped in plastic bags (to protect the boxes from the rain), some left over packaging, and felt. Ideally try to use as much reclaimed/recycled material as possible.

Bring any waterproofed snowmen in to school next week (w/c 26 Nov), alternatively bring them in during the Christmas Fair on Saturday 1 December. Feel free to include the child's name(s) and class(s) and maybe we'll get Mr Dunmall to judge any entries on the day.

  • Staying warm in the garden

Tue 20 Nov 2018 Ellie Lock
To echo Mr Thomas's message about keeping warm - don't forget to wrap up well for your gardening lessons. It's officially 3-layer weather this week. A change of shoes is a good idea. And gloves. Definitely gloves. More garden shenanigans here.
  • Change of footwear and staying warm for PE

Tue 20 Nov 2018 Dan Thomas

Due to football taking place on the school field for the rest of the term children are permitted to bring a change of footwear with them for PE. This can include football boots, astro turfs or a different pair of trainers. These can then be worn on the field for PE and then changed for the rest of the day to save children wearing wet and muddy trainers all day.

Please also ensure that your children are wearing an appropriate number of layers for outdoor PE at this time of year. This can include extra layers underneath uniform or school fleeces on top of jumpers or cardigans. However, please remember that hoodies or other non Fielding uniform, including coats and jackets are not permitted.

  • Keeping your child safe online, Musical.ly has a new name - TikTok

Mon 19 Nov 2018 Clare Haines

The social network app Musical.ly has often given adults cause for concern, because of the way that children use it to generate and share their own short videos and lip sync to popular audio clips. The app has a new name and new features, and now includes live streaming. Although the app has an age-limit of 13 years old, in practice we know some of our older children use it, please be aware that the  content may not be suitable.

Profiles on TikTok are automatically set to public, so that any content your child posts can be seen by anyone within the app. There is also a Restricted Mode which can help to filter out inappropriate content and prevent the user from being able to start their own live streams.
You can find out more here:

  • Girls football team crowned Featherstone Champions

    Thu 15 Nov 2018

On Wednesday, Fielding took 2 teams to this years Featherstone Girls Football tournament. Both teams were brilliant and demonstrated some great football due to the all of the hard work they have been putting in on Thursday mornings at training. The B team were drawn in a tough group and started off by losing their first 2 games, before turning it around and battling to draw their next 3. That was enough to qualify for the plate competition but unfortunately they lost in the next round. The A team were the dominant team in their group, winning all 6 games and only conceding 1 goal in the process. They went through to the quarter finals where they won and continued to win until reaching the final to play against Allenby. They were then brilliant in the final and went on to win 3-0 to be crowned champions and qualify for this years Area finals. Big congratulations to every girl from both teams for playing some great football and demonstrating the school values so well.
