Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
These forms need to be completed and returned to school by Feb 24th. Spare copies can be found on the year 6 letters page.
The 3rd payment is now due and can be made via laser.
In just over a week, year 5 will be having a visit from the planetarium which will link into our topic of Space.
During the visit, all year 5 classes will attend a workshop where they will learn some more facts which will help them in their English and Science lessons.
Children in year 5 have been really interested in our topic of Space and have been asking some interesting questions as well as telling their teachers some amazing facts about black holes and nebulas.
Throughout this half term we will be working with an external education consultant, Keith Adams from Focus Education, to evaluate our current procedures for promoting positive behaviour and tackling bullying. We want to find out what is working well and ways of strengthening our systems further.
To help with our evaluation we would also like to gather parent views. As well as completing our annual parent survey, parents will be able to share their views with Keith face-to-face on Monday 23rd January when he will be available before school in the playground.
The Library will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays at drop off. Please see the letter on our letters page for more information and the timetable for when you can borrow books to share with your child.
Happy Reading.
February half-term week is fast approaching, with only 3 weeks left to plan your childcare. Fielding Holiday Club has the solution, a full day’s childcare for only £35 with an additional £7 for trip days. This is fantastic value and guaranteed to keep the children happy and having fun.
During half-term week, the children will be able to create art masterpieces, try out the new resources for play or take part in the planned trips.
This holiday includes visits to:
Whichever days you choose for your children they will be memorable. Next steps:
Specialist Clubs
The specialist clubs are off to a great start this term, it is fantastic to see so many children enjoy learning new skills and strengthening friendships before and after the school day. Last week the 'What’s for Tea'? Cooking Club baked Falafel from scratch, to finish the dish the children added some beautiful fresh salad leaves grown by our very own Muddy hands gardeners.
QPR football sessions have proved to be extremely popular this term, so far the weather has been kind. Do remember the children are playing in most weathers on the school field that is muddy and cold so suitable clothing and footwear must be worn each week. Great news for the first 30 children on the waiting list for club, they will be offered a place at QPR football to start straight after February half term week.
Childcare
Please be reminded 50% or the full amount of childcare fees for the spring term and the full amount for specialist clubs booked must now be paid. Please log into Laser to ensure your child’s cashbook is in order. If you are experiencing difficulties paying, contact the Childcare Manager as soon as possible to discuss options.
Childcare and Specialist clubs often work in partnership, if you have booked a specialist club please make sure you have also booked the after school club to complement your booking if needed.
Sometimes the unexpected happens; rest assured Ad hoc childcare bookings are always available for parents running late or in need of childcare, bookable through Laser before 2pm on the day.
The school was a sea of green yesterday when the NSPCC visited and delivered their Speak out. Stay safe. assembly to share information with children, from Year 1-6, about how they can stay safe from harm and how to get help if they have worries. Year 5 and 6 also attended a workshop and participated with maturity and sensitivity in discussion with the presenters from the NSPCC.
The NSPCC's work in our school helps to encourage conversations about staying safe and the NSPCC have a number of child-friendly materials available to help you continue the conversation at home.
Our school decided to help support the valuable work that the NSPCC does through our 'Go Green for Buddy' non-uniform fundraising day. A final count has not been completed yet but initial figures show we raised an incredible £670 through the efforts of the children and their families. Thank you for your support and we know the NSPCC will be grateful for the support also.
The boys and girls football teams went to St. Raphael's on Friday for their third games in this years Peal Shield competition. Both teams played some good football as we ended up coming home with a win and a draw. To read the full reports and find out who maintained their 100% winning record check out the PE page.
