  • Nasal Flu Sprays catch up - Tuesday 14th December

    Fri 19 Nov 2021 Office

    The community nurses have told us that for reasons outside of their control, it will not be possible for them to immunise all pupils in school today.

    The nurses will be back in school on Tuesday 14th December for pupils who didn't receive their nasal spray today. This includes those who are absent from school today.

  • Parent Governor Ballot

    Fri 19 Nov 2021 Clare Dunne

    Good news, four parents have put themselves forward to stand for the Parent Governor vacancy, this means a ballot:

    • Sunil Lalwani, who has a child in Year 4 and 5
    • Caspar Mason, who has children in Years 2 & 5
    • Carl Pheasey, who has a child in Nursery and Year 3
    • Alisa Voznaya, who has a child in Reception

    Personal statements & ballot papers will be sent out on Friday 19 November 2021. There is a 14-day window for ballot papers and parent declaration forms to be returned to the school, deadline Friday 3 December 2021 at 3.30pm. Any votes received after this date will not be accepted.

    Due to COVID-19, there will be three central secured areas for you to return your forms safely.

    • Areas are outside the Main Hall from Wyndham Road entrance, outside Year 1 block and outside Year 6 entrances
    • These boxes are Fielding blue and will have a sign clearly stating that they are ballot boxes.
    • You can also return these forms by Royal Mail but not by pupil post.

    Ealing Council has strict rules about parent governor elections. We would prefer to complete all of this electronically but have been told that we cannot.

    The double envelope system

    You will be provided with a ballot paper, parent’s declaration form and 2 envelopes, 1 x small per parent and 1 x larger per family. These will be sent home by pupil post on Friday 19 November. If you do not receive these forms, you will need to come into the school office and complete a parent verification form. This form states that you have either not received the original papers or that these maybe lost. Completed forms cannot be sent electronically.

    When recording your vote on the ballot paper, please clearly mark which candidate you wish to vote for (please do not mark this paper in any way which may identify you). When you have completed the ballot paper this must be placed in the smaller envelope and sealed. You should also complete the declaration form which goes in the large envelope along with the smaller envelopes sealed. You can return these forms to the designated areas as explained above or Royal Mail.

    Electronic documents will not be accepted. All votes are kept in a secure area until the count.

    The count

    The count for the election will take place on Monday 6 December at 9.45am.  Notification of the successful candidate will be made known on the Latest News on Monday 6 December 2021.

  • COVID-19: Lateral flow testing at home makes a difference

    Fri 19 Nov 2021 Peter Dunmall

    In the last 2 days, daily testing has shown 10 cases of infection where pupils had no sign of any symptoms. This is helping to break the chain of infection transmission in school.

    Thanks to all parents who are, or have started to, check children at home each day for coronavirus infection using a lateral flow test.

    Parents please:

    • test your child daily until Friday 3 December using a lateral flow test;
    • be extra cautious and alert to any changes in your child's health.
      • If you see symptoms of COVID-19, stop sending your child to school and check with a PCR test;
    • use our form to report results of lateral flow and/or PCR tests
    • wash hands as soon as pupils arrive at home after school.

  • Fielding win silver at Featherstone Girls Football competition

    Thu 18 Nov 2021 D Thomas

    On Thursday 18th November, Fielding took 2 teams to Gunnersbury Sports Hub to compete in this years Featherstone Girls Football Competition. Our Fielding Blue team were made up of Year 6 girls currently training in our squad and out Fielding Whites team were our Year 5 girls.

    Both teams kicked off their tournament at the same time with the Whites playing against Dairy Meadow in Group A and the Blues playing against Mount Carmel B's in Group B. The Whites played really well but lost 1-0 and the Blues also played well as they got off to a 4-0 win.

    In game 2, the Whites had Little Ealing to get past and played some great defensive football before scoring past Little Ealing on a break to win the game 1-0. The Blues had Selborne in game 2 and continued their good start winning 1-0 too.

    In game 3 of the group, the Whites were up against Mount Carmel A's and played an excellent game of football and were possibly the better team but with literally the last kick of the game Mount Carmel took advantage of a spinning ball and scored to win 1-0. The Blues were up against an Oaklands team who had just won 9-0 in their previous game (which was only 7 minutes long!) It was a tough game but we played well after going 1-0 down to draw 1-1.

    In the final game of the group stages the Blues were up against Berrymede A and won 3-0 and the Whites played against Berrymede B and drew 0-0.

    After the group games had finished the Whites won 1, drew 1 and lost 2 meaning that they finished 3rd in their group and so didn't make it through to the semi finals. As a team of Year 5 girls though, they were excellent and should be very proud of their achievements today. The Blues had won 3 and drew 1 which meant they did qualify for the semi finals in which they were drawn against Mount Carmel A.

    The Blues were excellent in the semi final and won 4-0 to progress to the final. In the other semi final, there was huge upset as Oaklands were held to a 0-0 draw by Dairy Meadow A and then lost on penalties. So, in the final we were up against Dairy Meadow and were keen to give it everything. We were on top for the whole game but couldn't get through the Dairy Meadow defence as they held on for another 0-0 draw. The final was to be settled by a penalty shootout and after 5 great penalties we missed out 3rd penalty and lost 3-2.

    A huge congratulations to both teams today for representing the school so well.

  • Fielding Outdoor Christmas Market / Elfridges Online Shop

    Thu 18 Nov 2021 School Office

    December's Christmas Fair is normally one of the PTFA's biggest fundraisers, but with Covid still hanging over us, the PTFA have decided to run an Outdoor Christmas Market event instead which provides plenty of fresh air and more space between stalls.

    The Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 4 December between 12pm-4pm with the main entrance via Fielding Walk.  Most classes across the school will be running an activity including Games, Christmas Trees, Outdoor Santa's Grotto, Gift Stalls, 2nd Hand Uniform, Hot Food, Mulled Wine, Tombola and busking amongst others.

    We will also be launching our online Fielding Elfridges Store where we have put together a variety of lovely festive treats, activities and gifts for Christmas, starting from £2. Elfridges will raise valuable funds for the school which help fund the Kitchen garden and other school resources.

    Thank you in advance for helping the PTFA get this event off the ground - and hopefully we can count on your support financially too!

  • How to tell us your child has had a positive COVID-19 test

    Thu 18 Nov 2021 Clare Haines

    If your child has a positive LFD or PCR COVID-19 test, please use our online form to tell us. This is so we capture all the information we need.

  • COVID-19: Whole school moves to amber measures

    Wed 17 Nov 2021 Peter Dunmall

    26 pupils have tested positive for COVID-19 since Saturday. 15 classes now have at least 1 positive case (some more) in the last 10 days:

    • 1S, 2S, 3F, 3P, 4F, 4H, 4P, 4S, 5F, 5H, 5P, 6F, 6H, 6P, 6S.

    In classes where cases are below the government threshold of 5, we typically see cases rising quickly above this threshold. We then move the class to 'amber' control measures.

    For these reasons, we are moving all classes to amber control measures from today. We want to reduce the risk of infection transmission and keep as many pupils as possible attending school.

    We are trying to take steps to reduce risk of infection while keeping as much the same for pupils as we can. Experts from the London Coronavirus Regional Cell have helped us further strengthen our measures announced yesterday.

    For parents, this means:

    1. please test your child daily until Friday 3 December using a lateral flow test;
    2. be extra cautious and alert to any changes in your child's health.
      • If you see symptoms of coronavirus, stop sending your child to school and check with a PCR test;
    3. strict social distancing while on the school site, including 'drop and go' at morning drop-off and collection; avoid visiting the school office;
    4. all adults - staff, parents and visitors - to wear a face covering in communal areas;
    5. wash hands as soon as pupils arrive at home after school.

    In school, this means:

    • pupils return to forward-facing rows in class, if teachers have switched to table group layout;
    • no splitting of classes on first day of any teacher absence. We will seek agency (supply) cover and then fall-back on our own Higher Level Teaching Assistants to cover teacher absence;
    • childcare organised into year groups within a larger group, as much as possible;
    • increasing hand-washing for all pupils on arrival, around break-time, before food and after lunch;
    • increasing cleaning of all high-touch surfaces during the school day;
    • no singing indoors.

    Other things that we do:

    • specialist clubs and instrumental tuition will continue in mixed age groups to maintain our offer with as much distancing as possible;
    • Year 5 class sharing assemblies become remote and will be recorded in school for parents to watch at home.
    • Reception nativity remains face-to-face, for now. If there is an increase in infection we may switch to remote and record.
    • sports competitions against other schools continue because these take place outside;
    • year 1 carol service at St. Pauls church is cancelled because we cannot rehearse and we need to reduce mixing of pupils indoors;
    • Christmas concert for orchestra is replaced with an orchestra video recording;
    • PTFA Christmas Fair continues because the event is taking place outside.
  • Spare shoes on PE days

    Mon 15 Nov 2021 D Thomas

    Please remember to send your child to school with a spare pair of shoes and bag to place dirty shoes in on days when they have PE.

    At the moment, children have 1 PE lesson on the field and then 1 in the Sports hall. For lessons on the field, children are allowed to wear football boots if they want or can wear a pair of trainers which are fine to get wet and muddy. All children should then bring in a second pair of trainers or shoes to wear in and around the school. If your child does not own a second pair of trainers they should change into their school shoes after their lesson on the field. This is so that we can continue to have PE lessons on the field without making the school a mess.

    If children aren't able to or forget to bring in spare shoes we will have to move our outdoor PE lesson to the areas in between the climbing frames which will impact on what we are able to learn in PE over the winter months.
