  • New Chair of Governors

    Wed 20 Sep 2017

    Juliet Fitzgerald elected as Chair

At our Governing Body meeting on Monday evening, governors elected parent governor, Jules Fitzgerald, as their Chair.  Holly Larrett was also elected as Vice-Chair.  The Chair and Vice-Chair of Governors at Fielding are elected annually.

Juliet has volunteered as a governor since December 2013 with her term of office as a parent governor set to end in December 2017.  Governors co-opted Juliet on to the Governing Body to replace the vacancy created by Sarah Wilkins.

The school will seek nominations from parents this term to fill Juliet's parent governor vacancy.

    Make holiday and travel arrangements

School term and holiday dates from September 2018 to July 2019 have been finalised and published.

Attendance at Fielding continues to be very high, reflecting the way that our families value their children's education so highly. Please continue to make all holiday and other travel arrangements during school holiday periods.

Our assessment information shows that the more days pupils are in school, the more likely they are to succeed.

    PTFA Meeting Next Tuesday

Our first PTFA meeting and welcome session for new parents will be held this Tuesday, the 19th September. The morning meeting is in the school house after drop off and the evening meeting on the same day, in the upstairs room of the Forester Pub, at 8.30pm. All parents are welcome to join us at one of these meetings and it would be great to see as many of you as possible. The morning meeting is accompanied by tea, coffee and cakes. Pre-school children are also welcome to stay and there will be some toys and books available for them to play with. The evening meeting is often accompanied by a glass of wine and it would be great for parents to stay for a drink or two after the meeting. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents especially if you are new to the school. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Interested in a career in education? Or simply enjoy supporting children’s learning?

    Thu 14 Sep 2017

    Do you have spare time?

Why not volunteer some time to enhance the learning opportunities of pupils at Fielding.  We currently have a number of established volunteers within the school; however there is always room for more! We are currently seeking parent and community volunteers that would be willing to give up some of their time to help in supporting the children to develop their learning experiences. We value the work that our volunteers do. The staff and children come to rely on you and therefore we seek to make the days and times volunteers attend are as consistent as possible.

On Tuesday 10th October at 2.45pm we will be holding an information session for any parents who are interested in volunteering in school, come along to find out more and sign up.

Can't make the 10th? That's Ok, you can speak directly to your child's class teacher or Orla Donlon in the school office.

All applicants will be asked to complete the volunteer pack and apply for an up-to date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

  • Premier League Trophy visits Fielding!

    Tue 12 Sep 2017

Today we were very fortunate to have the Premier League Trophy inside our very own sports hall. Fielding children were invited down to take part in an afternoon of activities delivered in partnership by Queens Park Rangers and the Premier League...and they loved it!

Children took part in a health workshop where they learned about healthy eating, they participated in football related games to highlight the value of team work and working together to achieve a goal and they learnt about Premier League values - be ambitious, be inspiring, be connected and be fair. They even got their hands on the trophy for photos (figuratively speaking...we weren't allowed to touch the trophy!!) The afternoon was fantastic and I'm sure all of the children involved (and the staff who managed to sneak down) will remember it for a very long time.

I wonder if any of our children will actually manage to get their hands on the trophy in years to come...BE AMBITIOUS!
