"Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." This was one of many poignant quotes from the late Princess Diana (1961-1997) which our six newly-appointed Anti-bullying Ambassadors took away from their day’s Diana Award training at Brentside Academy today. The theme of the day was, ‘Mutual Respect.’ The Diana Award’s Anti-Bullying work is supported by HRH The Prince of Wales and engages young people, parents and adults to change the attitudes, behaviour and culture of bullying by building skills and confidence to address different situations. The Diana Award is a youth charity founded in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world.
Imogen, Arthur, Andrew, Gabi, Ava and Zara worked alongside pupils from schools all around London to gain confidence in their new roles, using tools to identify bullying behaviours and learn how to support pupils who are involved in bullying situations. They now know that the word, ‘bully’ should not be used as bullying behaviour is a choice and can be challenged and changed. Instead, they now use the terms, ‘perpetrators,’ ‘targets,’ and ‘bystanders.’ Their mission now is to turn as many bystanders as possible into, ‘upstanders,’ who, like them, can make a positive change.
Over the coming weeks, Phil Kennedy (Leader of Play, who attended today’s training) and our six Anti-bullying Ambassadors will choose and train a further eighteen pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6. Their roles will involve being on rotating Anti-bullying Ambassador duty in the playground twice each week and collaborating on their first pupil-led school campaign, which will work towards achieving further Diana Award badges- Respect, Wellbeing, Community Action and Online Safety. We will have to wait and see which badge they choose to work towards first!

This week pupils across the school have been thinking about what bullying is and what it isn't. They have also taken part in our anti-bullying survey. Most pupils told us they have not been bullied. Some told us that bullying does happen from time to time. But when they tell adults in school adults help to sort it out and it stops.
Pupils in Year 6 have been thinking about the difference between banter and bullying. Pupils across the school have been thinking about using kind words. They have enjoyed writing kindness leaves to share. All pupils have been learning how to get help if others are unkind to them. Our antibullying ambassadors have been out of school with Miss Whaley and Mr Kennedy for their first training day with the antibullying alliance.
Find out more about their training and next steps here.
As antibullying week comes to a close the work in school will carry on. In our values and relationships lessons we will continue our work on being kind and showing respect to one another. The antibullying ambassadors will be working with other pupils, and our peer-mediators are getting ready for their own training in school.

Today the Year 5 & 6 Girls Development Football Squad had their first-ever football match as a team. The girls were very excited to get started.
At the start of the game in defence, we had Anouk (6P), Grace (6S), and Annabelle (6H) who did a great job clearing the ball and making some great tackles. Unfortunately, Holy Family School found a gap and slipped one goal past Eleanor (5F) our goalkeeper. The pressure was now on the attack which was Ariella (6H), Mia (6S), and Hera (6P) to start scoring some goals. Going into the second half changes needed to be made in a attack so Rosie (5P), Amy (5S), and Libby (5F) all came on and we started to press more in attack but somehow struggled to find the back of the net.
Finally, the final score was 5-0 to Holy family when the whistle was blown at full time. The girls have learnt a lot from this game and are going to be ready for their tournament at Ealing Trailer Finders on Thursday 17th November.
Many thanks to all the girls who played today who showed resilience, and respect and could reflect on their own performance too!
Today was Fielding’s first home game on the Artificial Grass Pitch against Holy Family School in Acton. Nerves were high as it was the Development squad first match this season.
In the first half, we started with Josh (6F) Arthur (6S), and Oscar (5P) who made some great clearances and interceptions making it difficult for Holy Family to score a goal. This includes our great goalkeeper Charlie (5H) who was on his toes throughout to stop the ball from going into the back of the net. Playing in attack we had Ahmed (5F), Zain (5P), and Kit (6S), who made some great one-two passes but couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately, Holy Family took us by surprise and scored. During the second half, changes were made and Daniel (5F), Yaqoob (5S) and Ethan (6S) and fielding were pressing forwards more. However unfortunately Holy Family managed to score another two goals from a corner kick. Despite being 3-0 down Fielding maintained a positive mindset and managed to score on the counterattack.
Well done to Yaqoob (5S) for scoring a real blinder in the back of the net.
Although, the final score was 3-1 Fielding has learnt a valuable lesson and knows exactly what to do going forward into future games.
Thanks to Coach Andy for his continued support and Mr Francis for refereeing the game.
Well done to …
Charlie (5H Josh (6F) Arthur (6S), Oscar (5P) Ahmed (5F), Zain (5P), Kit (6S) Daniel (5F), Yaqoob (5S) and Ethan (6S)!
On Thursday 10th November, Fielding took part in the Tag rugby tournament, entering two teams. Both teams demonstrated exemplary values of the school showing the utmost respect to each team and to the referees and also resilience. The development team won their first game showing great skill and determination and were unlucky to lose their final two games to the eventual finalists. The performance team won 3rd place, winning all their group games and making it to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, they faced Mount Carmel and it was a close game with Mount Carmel just edging it 2-0. In the 3rd and 4th place play off they faced Little Ealing and after a deadlock and ending 2-2, it entered Golden goal. Evie (6S) made a fantastic run past 3 players to win the game and top off an amazing team performance.
A massive congratulations for achieving 3rd place overall and receiving Bronze Medals!
Performance Team - Emma (6F), Evie (6S), Florence (6H), Reuben (6S), Noah (6F), Giole (6f), Theo (6S)
Development Team - Ruth (6P), Annabelle (6H), Marin(5P), Zain (5P), Oscar (5P), Aiden (6F), Leo (6P)
